Allen Deluxe 2-Bike Carrier

It's really light and easy to put on my car, it's small enough that it fits in my trunk when I'm not using it, and it works. And it was much cheaper than other models.

This carrier is sturdier than it seems at first. The key is to install it correctly. The directions are almost adequate, so, with a bit of insight and holoistic thinking, it can be done rather quickly (in my case, to a 1993 Honda Accord EX). One design correction I'd recommend is a way to secure the extra lengths of strapping once the carrier is secured to the car. There's a lot of it. Beyond that, I strapped an ordinary 21-speed bike to it and drove, @ 70 MPH, for ca. 60 miles to the repair shop. Not a problem. Unstrapping the bike was easy and then removing the carrier from the car, folding it, and putting it into my trunk was also easy. I plan to use it for a 1,500 mile trip, so, if it stands up as well for that long, it's aces--we'll see.

I purchase this product right before making a 2,000 mile trek across the United States. This product held up through the whole trip. It was very easy to set up and load a bike on and off of and came off of the vehicle just as easy as it went on. Very nice and sturdy, very pleasesd.

This is the first bike rack that I have ever purchased. After about one month's use, I found this product meeting most of my expectations. The construction is solid; there is no need for assembly, and you can take it right off the box and start to use it. It is fairly easy to put on and off the trunk. The only complain I have is that the bike strap holders slide easily on the rode. I may need to put on some duck tap to keep them in place. Otherwise, I found this a very good product of great value.

For the price this unit is a very good product. It could use two side straps when hauling two bikes. We had no problems other than making a few minor adjustments along the way from time to time. You could not ask for a better product for the price. I have looked at other racks that cost more and they were not much better, other than the price tag. Allen really did some thinking on this one. I would recommend this unit to anyone who likes to take the bikes on trips, or just to the bike trails ect.

This bike carrier surpassed my expectations. It fits very well on my Toyota Echo and if you make sure you tighten the straps enough, it is very stable--no movement. Sturdy construction and holds 2 bikes very nicely. I recommend.

We had a few moments when attaching to the car so we could get the bikes home but we managed. Didn't like the hook for the bottom (on the trunk lid).
We rigged our own attachment using their hook and it seems to work better. Not a nervous about it popping off. Bikes ride well on it.

After visiting several sporting goods stores, bike shops and surfing the internet I found the price for this on Wal-Marts's website very reasonable. Another site specializing in biking equipment listed this same rack for $116.00. Attatching it to the car was very easy. I did have difficulty trying to figure out how to put my bike on it but after going to the bike shop where I purchased my bike they told me I needed an adaptor bar for my bike (I have a girl's bike) so that it could be placed on the rake. This is why I rated the "meets expectations" as average as there was nothing in the directions about needing the additional bar for a girl's bike.

I bought this rack to carry my bicycle because it not only looked sturdy, but it fit my budget a lot nicer than those more expensive models.

The rack is a very good bargain. The only thing I wished the manufacturer did was provide more diagrams on how to mount the rack on a car like mine (4 door midsize car without the ability to attach a strap under the bumper). The instructions also don't show you how to mount a women's bike on the rack.
