Nice, simple crib, 01/31/2010
By NewMom0203
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

We bought this crib for our new baby because we wanted something eco-friendly. We were impressed with the packaging, as there was no styrofoam involved. The crib was easy to put together. My baby has not been born yet, so I have not used it with an infant.

GREAT crib!, 10/23/2009
By RafisMom, PA
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Great look, great color, very stable for my 20 month old son! His crib was getting rickety, so we are switching that one for the baby to arrive next month and needed a new one for him that could convert to toddler bed etc. Still using it as a crib and it is GREAT. We love it completely, not a single complaint. It looks great and works great and is eco-friendly.

Review 4 for Graco - Eco Friendly Dakota Classic Crib, Dark Walnut

Good value despite ugly color, 10/10/2009
By Perfesser
Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

This is a pretty sturdy crib though it's not very big or bulky and in fact feels pretty light in the box. I appreciated the fact that it was made of wood after seeing some chintzy and very fake veneer cribs in the stores (even if it arrived with a few nicks and scratches and some uneven color).

Requires a bit of patience to put together (though it's not difficult per se) because you have to use a tiny allen wrench sometimes through a two-inch gap between the side slats to get a screw in the right hole. The casters don't really lock and the crib can move around even if casters are in the "locked" position, and I'm not sure how to get them out now that they've been jammed in, so it's probably best not to use them at all. The crib also feels much lower than you might think from the picture/measurements because those include the casters.

The real disappointment, though, was the color - kind of a medium golden 1970s brown that lacks any redness to make it rich. It's almost an, err, excrement brown. The pictures are completely off, and if you're expecting something lighter but still in the range of normal wood tones found in most furniture, you might be surprised at how blah the color actually is.

Also, the Simmons baby mattress I had wasn't a good fit even though it's the standard 51.6 inches, there was definitely room for two fingers between the mattress and the crib. I'm ordering the Colgate Classica mattress instead as the reviewer before suggested that it fit well.

Baby isn't here yet so I can't speak to how sturdy the crib is or how it holds up to jumping and moving around, but it seems to be sturdy (and it's too much of a pain to return furniture bought on mail order!) so I'm keeping it. But do try to open the box and peek at the color in the store if you can.

Nice, sturdy product. Other reviews are correct, product is not as dark as pictured, but it is perfect for our baby's room! Also, it is a shorter crib than most, but that is another reason we purchased it. Very easy to put together. Colagte's Classica I Crib mattress fits perfectly if you are considering this mattress!

Review 7 for Graco - Eco Friendly Dakota Classic Crib, Dark Walnut

Love this crib!, 08/29/2009
By MrsMartins, Texas
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I absolutely love this crib. Its very sturdy and was really easy to put together. As others said, its lighter than it looks and has some areas where you can see the knots and imperfections in the wood, but I think that makes it beautiful and very natural looking. Its shorter than some other cribs, which I also really like. A beautiful crib and a great value.

Review 8 for Graco - Eco Friendly Dakota Classic Crib, Dark Walnut

Excellent value, 08/06/2009
By NewBaby52, Western US
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

The Graco Dakota crib is a much higher quality crib than I had expected for the price. The piece all lined up seamlessly and came together easily. There were no misaligned screw holes as is typical within this price range. In addition, the finished product is both sturdy and attractive.

Overall this is a great product at a great price!

Review 9 for Graco - Eco Friendly Dakota Classic Crib, Dark Walnut

Wonderful Deal!, 06/25/2009
By MoMMandy, Baltimore, MD
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Although they are lighter than they appear online, they are wonderful cribs. They seem very sturdy and can't be beaten for the price. We purchased two for our twins and love that they'll also serve as toddler beds and later full size beds. I personally think the wheels that are included are cheap and look tacky but cam easily be tossed aside-how many people regularly move furniture that you can just sweep under? All around a great purchase, just wait to purchase matching furniture as the color is on the light side of dark walnut.

Review 10 for Graco - Eco Friendly Dakota Classic Crib, Dark Walnut

Love this crib so far., 06/23/2009
By Futuremom89
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

We did site to store and had no problem. Crib came to the store in about a week. I tracked everything online. Assembly went well except my husband had to fiddle with the bottom piece, but it was no big deal. He had it together in minutes.

The crib isn't as "dark" as I expected, which worked well for us. We are waiting for our arrival, but so far we love our new crib.

Review 11 for Graco - Eco Friendly Dakota Classic Crib, Dark Walnut

The color isn't as dark as it looks!, 06/21/2009
By SmartShopper500, Buffalo, NY
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

We haven't used the crib yet but my husband put it together. He was annoyed at times with the assembly but it was easy for him. So far, I'm pleased with the purchase - it is a good value. I did a lot of research before deciding to go with a stationary Graco crib. I was disappointed with the color though - the wood is not nearly as dark as the picture shows!

Review 12 for Graco - Eco Friendly Dakota Classic Crib, Dark Walnut

nice crib for the money, 06/16/2009
By cribcritic, PA
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I bought this crib as a second for my two year old since I am due with my second baby. It is a great color and very easy to put together. My only negative is that is is very short and small. Shorter than most cribs in terms of height. I am worried that my two year old will be able to easily climb out of it when he wants to. My first crib was a lot lower. This crib would be great for an infant but I would shop around if you are using for an older child. It does fit a standard mattress well though.

Review 14 for Graco - Eco Friendly Dakota Classic Crib, Dark Walnut

Very Nice but Color Is Lighter than Pic, 06/02/2009
By ShoppinMom09, Georgia
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

The crib is nice and solid, and it wasn't hard to assemble with two people. In the online pic it looks almost espresso, but it is really quite a bit lighter and browner. I would buy this crib first before you buy any other nursery furniture so you can do a better job of matching the wood colors. It is an attractive crib for a reasonable price.

The shipping box is 35 1/2 x 6 3/4 X 54 1/2", and it fit in the trunk of my Honda Civic with the back seat down (we used Site to Store for free shipping).

Review 15 for Graco - Eco Friendly Dakota Classic Crib, Dark Walnut

basic crib, great bang for your buck, 05/12/2009
By BelleLou
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

This is a good basic crib for a great price. I was looking for something that had fixed sides and was under $200 and this was a great find. It is listed as "coming soon" but I got mine within 4 days of ordering it, so it's available.
It looks black in the pic, but it is really a walnut color, not too dark, but on the darker side.
3 mattress positions, converts to toddler, day and full. Spring platform.
Very easy to put together.
