Great product and serves its purpose well! Our cats were stressed from our new puppy so I thought they needed their own space to themselves. Allows them access in and out of my bedroom, but keeps the puppy out....Wonderful! A big added bonus was that this cost $20 less than the same one cost on a very popular pet website.

We've got 6 cats, plus two dogs who'd love to eat their food. I got this for the express purpose of keeping the dogs out of the cat feeding area, while giving the cats (and us) free passage. It set up in minutes. I didn't use the screw-in bumper holders, there was no need for our house. Adjusting it was a little tricky, but pretty easy to figure out. Because of the walk-through feature, the adjustments need to be more precise than just tight, or the gate won't swing freely. I don't use the locking feature, since it requires two-handed operation. If you don't lock the gate, one-handed operation is easy. The cats took to it quite fast, the dogs were disappointed with it even faster though. No more cat food for them! Overall, not a bad product. It will save me in buying more cat food what I paid for the gate.

I bought this so the cats could get away from the dog, but didn't work as expected. The small pet door is to big, I was hoping it was to small for the dog (20lb beagle) but big enough for the cats. The cats can also get through the large gapes on the side of the gate. The opening I had it installed was 32" with very large gapes at the door frame. Also where the gate door closes has about a 4" gape and may smallest cat can squeeze through. My poor rating of this gate is based not only that it doesn't fit our situation well, it is also very poorly constructed. This gate is made from light gauge metal welded together. I'm a welder by profession and the welding on the gate is horrible. Missing weld, incomplete welds, large gapes, poor penetration of the metal. I would expect in a very short time many of the welded joints will fail. This gate is a good concept but very poorly executed with a lack of good quality control. That is one problem about ordering from the internet, you can not see it before you buy it. This gate is not sold within Walmart stores. I will be returning mine at my local store for a refund and I have only had it one day.

We have an unusual opening in which to try to stop pet access. With a jumper dog, the standard gate did not work. So it was cage during the day. This gate was plenty tall, but I had problems securing it on one side due to the opening - a sitting counter on one side and cabinets on the other. A little ingenuity to satisfy the expandable stops did the trick. The pup now has the run of one room while we are gone and we just leave the gate open during home time. The higher gate has proven excellent and it we are pleased with it.

This gate works well for our needs. We have several cats and a dog and we decided to turn one of the bedrooms into a cat room with no dog access. The gate is sturdy and tall enough. I read the reviews before I bought it and saw that some people broke the plastic latch so we are just careful with it. The door is not too wide but we can get through it just fine. The cat door part is bigger than it should be for cats, and our dog could get through it, but we fashioned a panel and attached it to the cat opening to make it smaller. The dog cannot get through it now. I priced this elsewhere and WalMart has the best price for this. It was very easy to set up and even though we did not screw it into the wall, my dog still cant get it down. She is not too big, though...neither is she too aggressive. If you have a bigger dog then you might want to screw in the holders for the gate.

We purchased this gate to keep our dog out of our laundry room, where our cat's food and litter are kept. The cat has no problem going through the door, the gate is easy for us to open, and the height stops our great dane mix from attempting to jump on it. Great peace of mind for us and our cat!

We are owned by a large and powerful mastiff PUPPY. This gate fits OUR needs until he is out of his "training" stages. ONLY because he has been taught NOT to jump up on anyone or anything, for ANY reason. HOWEVER, if he did choose to jump on this gate, it would fall easily. The gate was easy and quick to assemble and arrived quick with site to store option. The BOTTOM portion on the pressure mount is great. The problem is the TOP pressure points. because of the gap in this gate to allow a walk through. u can only put so much pressure to hold it secure before u loose the option to open and close the gate. i added a picture to give u an idea of what i mean. u could make this work if u decided on screw the mounts tighter or looser before and after u needed to walk through each time. but thats ridiculous. in summary, i would recommend this gate to those whose dogs would NOT jump on this gate or who have the patience in tightening the mounts with each use.

This is a nice sturdy gate once the permanent stops are installed. It keeps my dogs put and I like that it has mostly vertical bars so they don't attempt to climb it. The height is the prime reason I bought it. This gate serves its purpose well and it's nice to find a gate especially for mischievous pets like mine.

I was very skeptical that this gate could contain my 120lbs 2 yr old hound! It works like a charm and it was very easy to install. I did use the cups for extra support even though it is not installed on steps. This was by far the best price I have seen for this exact same gate on other sites!

Great to keep my high jumping dog out of the kitchen and away from the cat litter box. But the cat door is not small enough to keep the dog out so thank goodness my cat can squeeze through the sides of the gate or else I wouldn't have been able to use it. I have a cockapoo and he fits right through the cat door.

We bought this to allow our mini-dachshunds access to the kitchen but keep our 16 month old out...unfortunately, it arrived a bit bent, our 16 month old AND our dogs could fit the dog gate and the system to keep it affixed to the door frame was very unstable. It kept slipping off the door frame, no matter how tight I made it (which actually resulted in not being able to close it at one point due to the design of the tension/closing mechanism). Great idea - wish it had better execution!

This is tall enough to keep my dogs in, however one dog pulled the bottom of the gate, tweaked it and managed to escape and teach the others to do the same. Once I put a collar on the bottom of the gate, it became quite effective. The dogs then learned the gate couldn't be bent and I no longer need to use the collar to secure my dogs. I really like the fact that with this gate I can turn my service porch into an indoor doghouse as the dogs have on-going access to the outside world.

Wonderful. I have a bright dog visiting me who sees the room with the carpet in a way that is naughty. This gate is metal except for latch, and 40" tall, which keeps the dog from chewing or jumping it. It has a very nice swinging door to pass thru with a latch that's almost incomprehensible to open unless you know how. The gate even has a kitty door in the middle at bottom, so the cat can come and go; it can be shut closed. Installs pretty easily with four pressure pads that screw out to brace against the sides of the doorway. I had to use one 'cup' for keeping pads from slipping, and a longer screw(provided screw was too short) to insure the gate would not budge once installed. Extra metal panel provided for larger opening door way. This is my second Carlson extra tall gate, and this is by far the cheapest I've found it. HIGHLY recommend this gate for anyone with large dogs they want to keep out of a room, etc. You probably WILL have to drill a hole or two to properly secure it so keep that in mind. I did on both gates.

If you have a dog that weighs more than 25 pounds, this is not the gate for you. I have a 9 month old Boxer that bent this gate like a paper clip. The metal is cheap and not durable and can easily be manipulated by a dog with half a brain.

Our very big, very strong year old Labrador Retriever pup recognized the majesty of this gate immediately! He has jumped and knocked down 2 other gates but this one is perfect. I was a bit concerned since it looked nice, not big and heavy but the appearance is deceiving. The gate is tall and strong. I didn't screw in the cups, I didn't need to since the pup took one look and gave it up! The little pet door at the bottom has plenty of room for our 20 pound dog to go through. The main door is easily opened with one hand (my 7 year old loves it). One thing to know, the main door in this gate is a little tight if you are trying to get through with grocery bags or a great big Mom purse. Look closely at the picture and you'll see that the whole gate doesn't swing open, just the door. This does make it very strong but just wanted to warn folks who might be walking through the door continually while carrying little ones.
