RCA makes good TV's NOT HT in a box. My unit started making noise within 2 weeks and went dead within 4 weeks. I got my money back and saved it for a better system. Do NOT waste time or money on this item.

I was impressed with the video quality and could tell a definite difference when it "up" converts to HDMI. The sound is 100 watts which translates to 20 watts per channel. I didn't have experience in the sound department so I didn't know what this meant. What it means is if your room is on the large size then this is not enough power to really impress. If you live where the neighbors are close, then it has power enough to keep you out of trouble. The sub woofer can still send out a lot of vibration in the "strong" and "powerful" mode to cause possible disturbance. I wish it had more power so I could turn the volume higher. The other downside is my system just quit. Hopefully I can return it for my money back. I'm not put off by the system failure, things like that happen. I will look for more power though.

I selected this product to put in my living room but I found that the sound output is very low. During my trial I always had to keep the volumes on highest point to hear things comfortably. It was also not able to play any Mp3 music CD as well as any Video CD. It may be good for a very small room and just for DVD viewing but you should not go for it, if you are looking for a good sound. It was lacking in my expectations a lot. Thanks to walmart that they accept returns from any outlet, I did not have to pay postage to return this item.

Terrible volume. It sounds ok at a low volume but what's the point of not allowing the volume to boost. If I wanted a quality low volume product I would have stuck with the sound from my laptop. DONT PURCHASE!

we received this product as a gift for christmas and 6 months later it quit working on us. We tried calling rca and they refused to do anything for us since we didn't have a receipt. I really wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

All seemed well enough, then it started to take a very long time to read DVD's, then it would not read them at all, and stopped ejecting, so I had to open it up manually. The last time I used it, only 8-9 times total, it would not open at all. I am packing it up to return with a movie still stuck inside. I suggest you pick another one, as i am not the only one with the trouble I had with it.

I would not recomend this to anyone. The sound was not anything close to what was expected. The HDMI upconvertion is just a scam to get get you to pay extra for it. On top of all of that RCA's customer service is a joke. After being put on hold for 20 minutes they had know idea what I was talking about and after becoming fustrated the guy just hung up the phone. Do yourself a favor and spend an extra $100 and buy the Philips or Samsung home theater.

If you are looking for an AMAZING home theater system, this is obviously not what you want. The saying, "you get what you pay for", is true in this case. The price is very fare compared to the quality of the product. I put it in a small room of my house and it works good for the quality I was looking for. The speaker wire was not long enough for where I wanted to put the speakers however.

First of all we bought this a few months ago...we thought it was ok for the price, ha ha were we WRONG!?? First of all when we are searching through our DVR this thing kicks on and it is a pain in the butt to turn it off. Then two weeks ago, we returned it because it was on and all it would say was "welcome". It wouldn't give us back our DVD, so we took it to the store & they had to unscrew it to take it apart to get our DVD out. We had the speakers already installed so we just took back the DVD player. We returned with a new one a hooked it up. Tonight we put in a brand new DVD and it wouldn't play it. The DVD player just went around and around from loading... click... loading. It took forever to get the DVD out (which works just fine in our cheaper DVD player.) This product, will be returned AGAIN tomorrow!!!!!!!!

Had it 2-3 months... Played maybe 10 DVD's max and now it only says "WELCOME" when yhou power it on. Tried everything. Came back to these reviews and I see the same problem in here. Hopefully I can find my receipt and hopefully RCA will stand behind in???

Bought this for my Dad for a Father’s Day gift. He has a new HDTV that is 1080p capable. Yet there was only a cheap DVD player hooked up to it. I wanted to give him something that was HDMI and up convert capable. Without spending too much. One thing that must be done when this is all set up. You must up the db on all speakers to al least 10db. It comes set at 0db, so you have to max the volume to hear it. With at least 10db on all speakers it sounds great. A perfect buy.
