Canon PIXMA MP190 Photo Inkjet All-In-One Printer - Energy Star Compliant

It's okay, good printer for home use only....but it is really noisy and loud, and takes a while to print.

Let's first be clear on what duplex printing means. You select an option in a print command window to print on both sides. The printer then prints the odd-numbered pages. You remove them from the output tray, turn them over, and reinsert them in the paper tray. Then the printer prints the even-numbered pages on the blank side. That's called "manual duplex", because the user moves the paper.

Printers that perform the paper handling without user intervention are "auto duplex", as you would typically find in more expensive, multi-user, commercial printers and copiers.

After several hours of setup, installation, and troubleshooting, I contacted Canon support. Their answer: "The MP190 does not support duplex printing in Mac OS X." That's sorta like buying a car, and THEN finding out it doesn't go in reverse.

I called pre-sales customer information, and asked which print-copy-scan models do have duplex printing for the Mac. She emphatically insisted that they ALL do. Here's how:

Suppose I had a 40-page document that I wanted to print on both sides, using 20 sheets of paper. The MP190 could do it "manually" by printing only page 1, reinsert it into the paper tray, print only page 2, etc. In other words, I could issue 40 single-page print jobs.

After I explained what manual duplex meant, she went through each Canon model one by one and concluded that are NO currently available print/copy/scan models with that feature. However, auto duplex is available on more expensive models with oher features like fax, wireless, etc.

Dude, I was so blown away with this printer, it rocks!

I was looking for a low budget printer and was considering the Kodak series (you've so seen the commercials on TV). After reading the many bad reviews on various websites I thought to myself, this is not cool.

So I walked into Walmart to get something, got sidetracked and found myself in the electronics dept. I decided to check out the printers.

I found several decently priced inkjet printers around $69 - $89 and checked out the replacement ink prices for them as well - insane!!!!

So I stumbled on the very bottom shelf where the printers were and found this Canon for only $40 bills. Price caught my eye! I looked up the reviews on my blackberry and found out they were actually very positive, so I said to myself Dude, lets do this.

This Canon Printer Kicks bootie! Not only does it scan and copy, it also comes with a USB cable AND ink!!!! I was so stoked. The cost of the replacement ink isn't bad at all compared to most other brands. A replacement color ink cartridge is about $24 compared to paying up to $40+

As for people who say it makes a lot of noise - they must have it sitting on top of an old creeking table held together by kite string.

It does take a bit longer to warm up (like scanning) but for $40 it's not a big deal.

So if your thinking about it - go for it!

Very pleased with the printer. Its not real fast but for the price you cant beat it.

After looking at other options, I found this was the best value for the money. Since I have heard nothing but good things about Cannon, I decided to purchase at the store since they had it for the same price as online. I mainly bought it to use with my Acer netbook, and even though my Acer doesn't have a disk drive, the online website for the product had the setup program so it wasn't a problem to install. For the most part, it has printed great, the only issue I have is that it is a little slow to start printing or copying, but when it does begin, the process is fairly quickly. Overall a good size and a good buy. If only the cartridges weren't so expensive!!!!!

I had three kodak printers that all had problems. This
printer works quietly, fast, and for the right price. My kids can get great prints for school. The ink last longer then my other printers. You get the cable with it and all the other printers you have to buy it yourself. I got this printer because every review I read said it was a good printer and they was all right. Great Canon.

This printer meets and exceeds even the best of the best printers as far as printing quality pictures.

I have used it to print out coupons, to copy documents and print pictures. It is a valuable tool for my family!

The price is right on this printer. The print quality is very good and the scanner works very well. The ink is realitvely priced and seems to last. There are no memory card slots. Nice.
