Bought this motor to power a 12-foot aluminum Jon boat to ride quietly through shallow salt water canals behind my house. Only had this motor about a week, used it 3 times and am pleased with it so far, the 50 lbs. of thrust pushes the boat reasonably fast even in a strong head wind. I ran it full speed for two hours and based on the built-in battery life indicator, it probably had another 30 to 60 minutes of life left at full speed. I had hoped for much more time, considering I was using the largest marine battery I could find locally, rated at 720 marine amps and 560 cold cranking amps. The motor seemed to go into a pulsed mode when the battery perhaps got more than halfway drained, it seemed to run weaker at times and vibrate more, I assume to save the battery. There was no mention of this feature in the owner's manual so you may want to confirm with Minn Kota. This motor is an excellent value considering the 50 lbs. of thrust and graphite shaft for the price, but there are no bells ad whistles.

This trolling motor is exactly what you expect, and pushes my 14ft. skiff along quite nicely. Haven't even fired up the outboard the last 2 times out on lakes. The real + is the savings over the same model/other retailers.

Totally awesome troller, installed easily. Went fishing the next day with it. It had enough thrust to push my 13 ft gheenoe at a good speed, not sure exactly how fast I got it going , but if I had to guess, I would say between 6-8mph. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
