Ozark Trail Dome Truck Tent

We bought the tent for a camping trip on the Oregon coast. I suggest that you set it up beforehand. It was easy. The poles should be color coded for ease of set up, but just remember the shortest pole goes inside. Assemble to poles for length before you set it up as that will make it easier. It worked great.

Pics are of test fit shortly after receiving the truck tent. Went up like a normal tent and attached to truck tightly and with no problems. Tent is flexible enough to fit in 6.5ft bed over a custom retractable bed cover that takes up about 8sq inches in the front of the bed and rails to the tailgate! Instructions super easy to follow.

First time out last weekend and it started raining before I had a chance to spray or seam seal. Steady rain ALL night was enough to put our fire out but the tent never leaked, right out of the box!! I'm sure I would have been flooded out if this had been in my old tent on the ground... Packs up into a smaller form factor than my ground tent too. Looking forward to using it the next time out.

We purchased this for our 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab, easy to assemble, although we did have to change the poles around a bit becuse there are 3 differant sizes. I cant wait to use it, should be better tan sleeping in a ground tent. Excellant value for the money and a well thought out design.

I ordered this tent after a lot of research online. Why this tent? the number one reason was price. All the other truck tents I found were significantly more expensive. I have owned several other 'inexpensive tents over the years, most of which did not last more than two outings before becoming unusable.

So far we have used the tent once but I was impressed by it enough to review it anyway.

Set up was simple and straight forward only taking about tent minutes, even though we forgot and left the instructions at home. I had no pole problems as others have reported. The zippers seem to be well sewn and are easy to operate, this is usually an area of problems but this tent does not pull so hard as to put the door in a bind. Fit was excellent on my 2008 Dodge Ram shortbed. I ordered this as the combo with an air mattress which although a little narrower than the width between the wheel wells was a good mattress. Interior headroom was acceptable but this is definitely not one you can stand up in although I was able to kneel and not be able to touch my head to the roof and I am 6'2" tall. The wind was gusting up to about 35mph at times and the tent held rock solid.

We did not need the rainfly but I like the fact that it can be easily attached using buckles.

So far I am impressed and I hope it lasts a while but only time will tell for sure. If your on a budget like I am I can recommend this tent as an alternative to the ones that will run you hundreds more.

We took a pack n' play and used it near the cab of the truck, and then had a fullsize mattress between the wheel wells where two adults and a 6yr. old slept. It worked out perfect. Our 6yr. old especially likes that no creepy crawlies can wander in from the ground.

We bought the truck tent for my 2000 Chevy Silverado, fit perfectly in the back of the truck bed and was fairly easy to assemble without doing a dry run prior to initial use, actually took around 25 minutes to set up with one minor flaw that we worked around. The flaw was at the door to the tent the actual opening didnt stay open but like i said its a minor flaw, but for the money we saw others priced at over $300. We will use this product over and over, which i see others would do the same. Value wise its probably worth double the $84 we spent.

This tent is actually for a bigger truck and I have a Ford Ranger XLT. I built a platform onto the back of the truck, so it extends off the tailgate of the truck and now the tent fits like a charm. I put a mattress inside and sleep just fine. The only minor problem I had with it, was when it was very windy and rained all night, there was a small amount of water in the corner where the zipper closes. But that's it. Easy to put up, take down, and haul around. Makes camping a little more pleasant!!!

Very happy with this product. Have not had it long, but first time I used it, it was great. Worked perfect, and held up great.

We purchased this tent for our 02 Dodge Ram 1500 4dr. It fit perfect and was fairly easy to assemble and attach to the truck. Straps are easy to use and even have little nylon covers to prevent the plastic from scratching the paint.
Only downside to this tent is during rain. The rain-fly seems to work ok, but doesn't cover the lower portion of the tent... this part is NOT waterproof. We got a little wet the first night and ended up throwing a tarp over it for the rest of our trip.
Overall a very nice tent for the price when you can't afford something fancy from the sports store. Would reccommend it to anyone, but suggest some means of water proofing ;)
