Extremely useful, I wish I had this ages ago! It has a very simple, efficient design and works for yarn ranging from lightweight to bulky.
I actually use this in conjunction with the yarn winder available on walmart also, it makes a nice system to not only measure, but avoid tangling.

The only issue I have is attaching it to a table. With the areas given to use a clamp, it is sometimes difficult to set up without blocking the rings. You will need to buy a clamp in order to use this (I use a spring-tension claw-type clamp which is a little more secure in this application than a c-clamp would be)

This is a slick little gadget. It measures the length of your yarn as the yarn is fed through so you can create two equal balls. I knit socks a lot, so having two equal balls means I can knit both socks at the same time. I love this gadget!
