You get what you pay for but in this case you get a little more. As long as you maintain your bike and make adjustments when necessary you should have no problems. I use this as a road bike but if you are a serious mountain biker I wouldn't recommend.

I have gone through 2 of these bikes in 1 summer. the first bike the chain didnt work and pieces came off. the second bike which i still have now the back shock and front shocks are broken. the chain also doesnt work right half the time.

i had a TREK bike that i purchased for over $300 and this $120 bike blows this one out of the water it is a great bike for the money shifts better than old bike and frame and brakes are sturdier

I have had this bike for a year. I bought it for my son at Christmas last year. When I assembled it there was a problem with the front tire.
I took apart the tire to find a weak section in the inner tube. I went to walmart and bought another inner tube put it back on the bike and the front wheel still did not spin correctly.
I then bought a new tire and took the wheel apart again to put the new tire on. After installing the new tire with the new inner tube I turned the tire only to find out that the wheel itself was bent side to side so it wobbles slightly. I have also found the back wheel is also slightly bent side to side.
After making adjustments to the postion of the axle I was able to keep the wobble from hitting the break pads and stopping the wheel.
Since my son moved away I started using the bike. It rides okay but if you are tall like me (6'2") you can not get the seat up high enough and the pedal length is to short.
It has been ridden on dirt trails and pavement. I tried to ride it on rough terrain but it does not do well.
It is worth what I paid for it but don't expect a bike that performs like the mongoose name, it doesn't. If you plan on doing any kind of mountain biking get a better quality bike.

Our grandsons bike was stolen from his house and his father expected and demanded that his mother replace it with the same brand. We always purchase our bikes from site to store, even though our ex son-in-law despises Walmart, we happen to love the products and the prices at your stores. Our grandson loves his new Mongoose bike and says it's even better than the one that his dad bought and was stolen. His dad even like it even though he didn't know where it came from. Thank you very much.

Sharp looking dual suspension bike from Mongoose. Nice black with red trim. The price was reduced and shipping was fair. It was the best value on a quality bike that I found online. Minimal assembly. The chain was caught in the frame so I couldn't fully assemble it by myself. I was going to pay a bike shop anyway to make sure everything was done properly. Good ride for street and light trail with the dual suspension. Do yourself a favor and buy a gel cushion for the seat...your buttocks will thank you. 4 1/2 stars.

This bike is ok; I bought it for my son, mainly because it is a trusted brand name. I figured I couldn't go wrong with a name like Mongoose. But when my son got it shipped to his apartment, he said that it wasn't properly assembled, and that the bike repair man at a local establishment where he lives who had to tune-up the bike in more than 5 areas, said it was "banged-up" during assembly. The bike repair man also noted that the gears didn't shift into 21st gear the way they should without the chain coming off of the track, and my son was told that the reason for that was due to careless assembly because the rear gear guard was dented slightly. I would simply caution anyone looking into buying this bike: just remember that there is a reason why it is priced as cheap as it is. I learned a good lesson with this: if you want top quality, you have to shell-out to get it.

I got this bike for my birthday almost 4 monthes ago and overall it has been a very good reliable bike. The only problem I had was that after doing some true off-roading the wheels start to bend pretty easily. I'm not saying that it is always gonna happen because I was pushing it a little bit with jumps and big hills. That is the worst pr5oblem that I have faced with this bike but I can go on Amazon and buy 2 wheels for $40 so no big problem. I would strongly reccomend this bike because if it can survive with a curious 14 yr. old boy than it is reaaly tough!

I just want to caution those who are looking to enter into mountain biking like myself. If you plan to do any type to trail riding, which is what this bike looks to be made for, step up to a higher quality bike or get one from a bike shop somewhere. This bike worked great riding on a local semi-paved, maintained path here in town. When not pushed hard, and not ridden on any terribly difficult terrain, this bike performs well as I assume most any bike would. However, I found some trails set up by a local bike club in Charlotte, and that has been the source of much frustration. Most every trip through the woods involves coming home and fixing something. The brakes won't stay where set, the gears aren't in line like they were to start with, the rear tire shifts under heavy pedaling, etc. Some of this was due to initial set up, so be sure to tighten all bolts once you get it home if you do purchase this bike. All in all, I just want to pass along my experience. If you plan to go out and do any type of serious trail riding, it is well worth the extra investment to step up to a true mountain bike with it's features.

I've owned this bike for about 2 months, and I ride it everywhere. To and from work, 3.1 miles each way, and around on the weekend. I love it. I bought it off the rack for $129.00. I will say that it has develped an annoying little tick, which is constant and cannot be eliminated with shifting. Of course, it only started that after I had it tuned up. I had it tuned because it wasn't shifting through all gears initally. Now it is, but now it ticks! I hope to upgrade to the Snare before too long. Very impressed with the brand. This is kind of a cheap bike, but for the money, it's pretty good. I would recommend it for anyone looking to buy for under $200.

You need to be aware that this is not a model that Mongoose offers in it's line up. It's designed to be sold by big box retailers. As such it is a perfectly fine bike. The assembly was fairly straightforward out of the box. The preassembled parts did need a fair amount of adjustment and some of the fasteners are quite low quality. For what it is a good value.

Few yrs ago I owned a Next Bike to Railtrail around on. And many friends own same bike. Save your MONEY. Few month's ago I picked a bike for my son, XR-75. This is a well put togeather bike. I enjoy riding it when he's not. The other son want's one, so there be 2 of these bike. Great Rider!

I bought this product in the hopes on getting some outdoor exercise but after the second time riding the handle bars started to slip forward making it unable to ride after i had taken the bike out about 2 miles from home. After fixing the handle bars the third time riding they began to slip again and this time when I got home I decided to have a friend weld them into place. The bike rode find for a few weeks until the arm holding the pedal and the pedal itself fells off. This is not a sound product.

Wow! I really love this bike. I had to exchange three bikes before this one. Frist I had the Women's Next Bike and the bike made a loud noise as I road ould barely hear the music in my ipod lol! The brakes were shot and the seat felt like sitting on bricks. Than I got a Men's Mongoose Road Paver and it was okay but the bike was just pretty boring in terms of looks and I needed a bike that could handle dirt roads and rocky hills. Than I got a Road Master, a cute but very cheap bike also. Than I thought @ least the Mongoose was quality so how about I'll try their mountain bike. One of the best decisions in my life. This bike is great , ride three to four times a week for exercise. This bike is super fast and the shocks handle going over curbs and ruff roads with ease. I got the gel padded seat for extra comfty. The only thing is I would not recommend this bike If you are a man about 6.1 or taller. My husband is 6.3 and say's he too tall for this bike. I perfer the men bikes b/c I'm 5.7 but I have long legs so this bike suits me perfectly. Best bang for your bucks trust me this is an excellent price for the bike and I try several. I purchase my bike right from the store so I did not have to assemble anything!!!
