this mp3 player was a huge upgrade from my old one, and i was very impressed. the software is nice and easy to use, and the mp3 player itself is also quite easy to understand. nice big words, good color, many settings, etc. pretty fantastic. haha.

The 8gb ZEN is great. Ordered online from Walmart and got it a few days later. Service was fast. Easy to set up and was listening to my music in a matter of minutes. Transfers videos and pix w/o a problem. Easy to sync everything through media player. Much easier to use than I-Pods. Video looks great. Image quality is great and music sounds great also. Bought a 8gb SDHC card and now I have a 16gb MP3 player for far less than the competition. Very happy with product and price. Creative always has great products.

Had been looking forward to this product except when it got to me all I could get on it was the "white screen of death". Emailed for help with the company and they responded right away with suggestion of what to do. Everything I tried did not work. I have since taken it back to Wal-mart and they replaced it with another ZEN. I have had this one for a week and so far, it is working fine. I have had creative products before and really liked them. I hope this replacement works for a long time.

Love it! Bought this just for music use, but the Zen does so much more!
Sound quality is excellent! Easy to download music from CD's or music stores. Software easy to install on Vista computer operating systems too. Can choose which format to use to download which is nice. Nice memory capabilities...love ability to put info on SD card too.
Case that comes with it is very nice, and has slots for 2 additional SD cards. Protects Zen nicely! Back has button flap clip which I find handy for securing headphone cords and securing when exercising.
Headphones that came with it are pretty good, but I do prefer ones I bought myself (also from Wal-Mart) because I like to exercise while listening to music, and like the over the ear clip style for that purpose.
Color clarity is crisp. Menus are super easy to use. Love that you can add pix of your own, and sometimes do a slideshow of photos while you listen to music. Screen is easy to read and self-explanatory.
Has FM radio which was impressive. Can display menu in other languages. Can change slide show to accomodate music. Has an organizer on it (not had a chance to try it yet) with calendar, which is handy. Can watch videos on it too. (So far have just watched some downloaded music videos.)
Microphone is handy for recording quick notes (I've used it to record parking lot numbers at the mall, but could use to record things like shopping list, things to do after work, etc.)
Has slide switch that makes it easy to turn on and off while preventing it from accidentally going on.
Great, great product! A lot of features for a great price!

I reccommend this for anyone who can take gentle care of it. The screen is big and bright amd we downloaded lots of music, video clips and movies onto it. The case it came with was OK, it didn't have a screen protector incorporated into the case, (a plastic cover of some sort) It played great, sounded good and the functions were easy to use. The software was compatible on both my Vista and Windows XP machines. Easy convertor made it possible to watch all kinds of movies. The case really didn't work as a stand either. But reagardless... if the Zen isn't in some sort of full protective case, the screen will get scratched. I think the ad says somethning about scratch-resistant, but not so much ... TRUST ME! This thing is fragile. I was hoping it could take a little more abuse.
This is how I found out...I bought this for my 13 year old son for Christmas. He opened it and it was loaded and ready to go so he checked it out for the rest of the day, but he thought the case was lame so he carried it in his pocket...baggy jeans and all...after the 2nd day he had it, the screen was scratched and there was a small crack on the bottom. Shock! but, no bigee, he orders a full plastic case to protect it..but he can't wait for the case to get here so he continues to carry it around in his pocket, without the case,.. then BAM! He proceeds to drop it, 1 time...and LCD sreen breaks at the top and now the screen barely works and it's not under warranty. $88 dollars to fix the screen +S&H.through creative... Wow, that was an expensive 2 weeks use. GONE! Just like that. The ironic thing is the extra case he ordered came in the mail today..if he would have just waited a little longer... I Just thought I'd share our experience with everyone. If it would have been mine I would still be loving it!

Pros: The screen is sharp and I didn't witness any smearing of images playing videos. 8GB's for this player is a above value in this price range. I liked the ability to directly access the file structure directly via Windows Explorer, move files around, delete and rename folders. A big advantage of seeing the Zen as a device under W-XP was being able backup the continents of the entire player so if a reload is necessary, a person would not have to retrieve all the loaded items and place them back in the player the same way it was customized. Cons: The loading and converting of movies is challenging, but I knew that going in and I learned a lot about CODEC's and video standards. I figured out most of the important converting issues, still working on some. It would be nice to play music from the continents of SD media with all the sorting functionality, but at least Creative made this SD slot available. The importing mechanism from the Memory Card selection on the player is a little strange, but remember you can move all your imported data into the desired folders when you get back to your PC to USB link.
Over all, I am pleased with this purchase. I bought another Zen as a gift from Walmart.com which is a big compliment for a product with my standards.

My girlfriend purchased this item as a Christmas Gift to me and I couldn't wait to open it to use it... Creative puts out some excellent products and this is definately one of them. 8GB player with Leather case for only $98... That's a savings of $50!! Colors are very vibrant, software is easy to use.. Would highly recommend and have (Sis-in-law and niece now have players as well ;) )

I was expecting a good product. I have the Nano 8GB. Love the Nano, but sound quality stinks. The Zen is EXCELLENT! I prefer it for video. Video conversion is standard .WMV for the Zune format. Quick and easy. Smooth playing. Mine is stable as a rock! I recommend this OVER THE NANO if you don't mind not having access to all the IPod accessories.. BUT IF YOU WANT A NON-PROPRIETARY AND AMAZING QUALITY MP3 player BUY the ZEN.

Having tried a couple of MP3 players, this one far exceeds the others and for the price, it is a great value. Very easy to use and download music onto.
