This is the best little electric skillet in the world. I cook everyday and I use it for everything. Even heating, easy cleanup and stores in small places. I found this at Walmart and had to have it eventho I had a 16 inch another brand skillet already..so I gave the big one to my DIL and now we are all happy. Buy this skillet, you will use it everyday.

Great product for the price. I don't know how anyone can live without an electric skillet. I'm the 3rd generation that has used electric skillets almost on a daily basis. Don't know what we'd do without one. Have only had this one a few weeks, but am very pleased so far.

This Little Electric Skillet Works Great!, 07/30/2009

Like most people here, I read the reviews before buying the Rival 11" Electric Skillet. I was like, for heaven's sake, these people are going ga-ga over a skillet... Count me in! Here's the thing, this smallish skillet is the perfect size for 1 or 2 or a small family. It's light in weight yet feels very sturdily manufactured. Because it's aluminum, it heats up nice and evenly and holds heat well. Its ability to maintain a certain temperature is worth the price of admission alone. But with the non-stick coating on the inside *and* outside the this little guy's a cooking champ. A quick shot of cooking spray ensures that clean up is practically painless. Plus it's FULLY SUBMERSIBLE, when absolutely necessary - sometimes I just wipe the inside with cheap napkins and it's ready for the next cooking task. I'm sold.

Amazing skillet! Especially for the price!, 07/11/2009

My boyfriend and I have had this skillet for more than 2 months now and it has made our lives 100 times easier. He was living in a place with no kitchen and the landlord did not allow hot plates (ugh) so we tried out the skillet. He used it everyday and now that we've moved into an apartment with an actual kitchen, we still prefer to cook in this. Like another review said, it cooks better than the stove! We were going to get a microwave, but decided that this is better. So now need for the bulky appliance anymore. Great for a couple! If you are hesitating, stop. Just buy the darn thing already.

Very Useful Product, 06/21/2009
By ShellsProudMom, Missouri

I haven't had an electric skillet for a long time now and I missed it more than I thought. I'm disabled and this skillet makes my life easier. I would recommend this to anyone, especially to someone like a college student or a couple. Only because it's not one of the larger ones (which would be good for a family) and this one is just right for a smaller family.

Great Product!, 06/08/2009
By FiveFootTwo, Minneapolis, MN
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I have one of the FIRST models of these, and it still works great after all these years. I have never had any problems with it. I use it for everything...stir fry, grilled sandwiches, hotdishes, roasts, swedish meatballs, chicken breasts, burgers, sloppy joes, pancakes, sausage, eggs, bacon, french toast, swiss steak...you name it, I've made it in there. This is a die-hard skillet! Because of this, I just ordered one for my friend's son & girlfriend who got their first apartment. I KNOW they will love it as much as I do. Easy to use, easy to clean, dependable!

The Little Electric Skillet That Could!, 02/04/2009
By GrandmaStack, Paris, TN.
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I purchased this electric skillet for my 75 year young aunt in Paris, TN.. I had been comparing electric frying pans for awhile. My aunt called me up and said that she had seen the one she wants at Walmart. So I went to Walmart.com and found the one she saw and wanted. The price was really reasonable, far less than I was planning on spending. So I bought it and had it sent to her.
She said it is fantastic!!! She wanted it to just fry pastries. But she says that she uses it almost everyday. The temperature is accurate and it is easy to clean. She says she really likes the way that it just doesn't take up a lot of counter space.
TWO THUMBS UP!!!

Review 13 for Rival 11" Electric Skillet

Faster than a microwave!, 01/12/2009
By brainout
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I've owned this product for maybe a month now. It cooks faster than a microwave! And then, of course, you can leave the food on "Warm", so you save energy versus using the microwave again.

It's many appliances in one: you can use it like a frying pan, a slow cooker, a conventional saucepan; it's great for cooking rice, so replaces a rice cooker, too. I'd bet you could bake cornbread in it, or a small chicken. Honestly, I'm really thrilled with this product.

It's easy to clean. Be SURE to follow its instructions on first seasoning it. I used olive oil (was all I had), heated the skillet to 300 and then let it cool down, per the instructions. Then I just wiped it dry with a paper towel.

Cleanup thereafter is a snap. You can't immerse the skillet, but you won't need to: just use sudsy hot water: I use one of those sponges on a stick and hot water. Then dry it.

The temperature gauge would seem to be confusing -- until you read the instructions. They tell you what temperature to use for common foods, so it's easy to 'translate' what level of heat or microwave power becomes what 'temperature' on the skillet.

Was always chary of electric skillets, but with this one you can remove the heating element. You can be sure when the heating element is off, because you can't turn the dial left any longer. Then let it cool before unplugging.

If you know anyone who's not good at cooking, get them this skillet.

One slight con: there is no spout built in on the side. I'd rather have a small spout for pouring, than the hole they built into the lid to let steam escape. Else, I can't think of anything negative to say!

Great Mini Frypan for Two!, 12/21/2008
By ShopGreenGal, Jacksonville, FL.
Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

If you are cooking for only a couple of people this is an awesome little electric skillet. It's the perfect size - food doesn't get "lost" in this pan like it does in the larger versions of this skillet. You can use less oil or butter when cooking with this pan and still cover the bottom of the pan. Great finish, doesn't scratch even using metal utensils. Temp control a wonderful benefit - you can keep the pan on warm and your food will stay hot!
