Garmin nuvi 265WT 4.3" Screen GPS Navigation w/ Spoken Street Names, Bluetooth and Lifetime Traffic

After extensive research on navigational products, we chose to purchase this one in lieu of renewing Onstar so that we could use it in multiple vehicles. It works as well as Onstar and any of the online mapping services we have used. Sometimes takes odd routes but it will definitely get you to your destination. Very nice to have in areas that you don't know well. Traffic feature is nice but we don't have alot of issues with that in our area so it rarely comes into play. Widescreen makes everything very easy to see. Very easy to use. We purchased a Garmin friction mount for the dash to avoid any tell-tale suction cup marks on the windshield. Love this accessory. Works great. Also picked up a generic case for storage which I would recommend to protect your investment. Haven't had a lot of exposure to other brands but very pleased with Garmin thus far.

We have only used our Garmin one time but we loved it. It was easy to use and we are looking forward to using it on our vacation.

I love my Garmin but it is very shy on documentation. There isn't even a key that tells you what everything looks like or stands for.

I first purchased the Nuvi 255w in December. My husband and I found that one so useful that we decided to get this one too (we were constantly fighting over the other one!) As far as the navigation goes, the Nuvi products are great. Very easy to use and understand w/o having to read an entire book before hand. The traffic feature, however, is a different story. No where did it indicate (prior to purchase) that the traffic only works when the unit is plugged in. The traffic icon doesn't even appear when using battery power. The other issue w/ the traffic feature is that you have to press the icon to find out where the traffic is. That wouldn't be so bad if it were as simple as one touch, but it's two touches then two more to go back to the navigation screen. I feel like my attention is drawn away from the road too much when using the traffic feature. Otherwise, It's a great little GPS.

I purchased this product a few weeks ago. Overall, it works very nicely. I have a Tom Tom 125 with 3.5 screen and now the Garmin 265WT 4.3 and feel the size is more comfortable to glance at when travelling, although with street names announced, you will have less need to look at the screen.
I read many reviews before I purchased it, and the volume was a concern. The volume is not quite as loud as I would have liked, but it is sufficient. The directions are very accurate. I did notice though, that Garmin does lack, although minimal, on small town recognition. I live 9 tenths of a mile from a town called Gresham which has fast foods, gas stations, and some other businesses and when I asked for closest gas station from my home, was directed to one 1.3 miles in the opposite direction. Again, a minor qlitch, but Tom Tom map did have this location on their map.
I am still not quite sure how the traffic alert works, but I am guessing it did try to alert me while travelling in Houston during rush traffic to get off of I45 three exits sooner and I ignored it to find the traffic congested as I was approaching my exit. So if that is a sample of the traffic receiver at work, then that was helpful!!!! ( I will listen next time!) I can promise you, since I am new to Houston area, and while I am there, I will use this device regularly!
I searched and visited stores in my area and on the internet and found Walmarts online to have the best price at my time of purchase which was $216 plus tax. Free shipping to the store of your choice, however, for $1.95 regular shipping I had it sent to my home. I had it within 1 week.
There is 1 thing I do not like- when you first start your journey the Garmin tells you to go to the higlighted area but does not tell you whether you need to turn left or right.

Love the traffic alerts. Also very helpful finding places when you are new to the area.

I needed a GPS that was easy to use for my wife. The very first time she used it on her own, she fell in love with it. I tried it prior to turning it over to her and found it to be very easy to operate, found it to be accurate, and it gave me confidence that she could use it easily without getting miss-routed [in other words "LOST"]. This Garmin nuvi 265WT 4.3 actually exceded my expectations. In my opinion, this is an excellent buy for someone who needs a very good GPS for a reasonably good price.

This is the greatest technology since sliced bread. I love it when I miss a turn and the Garmin says "recalculating". I know it will get me back on track if I follow the verbal commands. I just came back from 4 weeks in Great Britain and Europe where I also used the Europe Navigator and it was a blessing. We are a whole family of Garmin users. My husband was 1st with his Garmin for boating, then my granddaughter who can get around Houston like a pro, then myself followed by my grandson and finally my daughter. We laugh when we call and ask for directions. I tell them just put the address in and press "GO". Can't live without it.
