EquateEquate Contact Lens Conditioning Solution 4 fl oz
The Equate Contact Lens Conditioning Solution helps you properly maintain your contact lenses. The rigid gas permeable contact lens solution contains a wetting agent to coat the surface of the lens to make them smooth, wet and comfortable. The wetting agent helps reduce the friction between your lens and your eye to minimize discomfort. This contact lens solution effectively removes lipids and proteins from lenses. It also destroys bacteria and other germs present on the surface of your lenses to protect eyes against infection. For all-day comfort, the lubricant present in the hard contact lens solution helps alleviate dryness.

I was glad to read the reviews that this was not just me. Equate was the only contact solution that I was not allergic to. I tried it many years ago, only becasue I had tried all the name brands. However, since the change I have had to try other brands. So far nothing is working. I agree that the old product was perfect for my needs, and for me the new one is not usable.

Why change a good thing into a bad thing? The old formulation was much better. Now I will have to look for a new brand. Sorry you lost my business.

This product used to be made by Lobob Labs, and was a thin excellent solution using in the eye. It is now very viscous and goopy, and it takes me about a half hour after lens insertion to get good clear vision. At first this bothered me, but now I'm liking the solution better because it seems to be super comfortable even after wearing my lenses for 12 hours. If they could just get the viscosity figured out, this would be the ultimate solution. I'm thinking that Bausch and Lomb, (Boston) must be the new manufacturer of this product because it feels like a Boston solution. Even though the extended comfort is superb with this solution, the initial blurriness is a drawback. I use it as a soaking solution, and if I have to drive right after I put my lenses in, I use Lobob wetting solution, which is a thinner, superb contact lens wetting solution.

Gas Perm cleaner product change; bad move

I have been using Equate gas perm lens cleaner for years! It was the BEST! The new formula is the WORST. It's milky white in color and does a HORRIBLE job of cleaning the lenses and is VERY DIFFICULT to rinse off! PLEASE go back to the original formula. This stuff is AWFUL!

bad product change...

I recently learned this this the hard way as well. The first thing I noticed was the smaller package (3.5 vs 4). Then the viscosity - much thicker. obviously the decision was made by someone who doesn't have a clue about contact lenses. The old product was made by Lobob, and I'm guessing the new one is a Boston product as it is very similar in the heavy viscosity. I've tried Boston - no thank you. Today is a holiday but I plan to call WalMart customer service tomorrow. I strongly urge everyone to do the same. I actually called them once before on something and actually talked to a real person.

Used to be great - recently changed manufacturers!

The person who loved this product -- as I did -- because it was thinner and not goopy in the eyes, will be disappointed that they recently changed manufacturers. The new stuff is unusable, in my opinion, because it is very thick & goopy. I can soak my lenses in it, but cannot use it as a conditioning solution in my eye. It took me a long time to find the Equate contact lens conditioning solution and it was a great value -- I bought probably 18 bottles a year. In early August 2012 the formula & manufacturer changed. I'm now on the hunt for new stuff and won't be using this again. (A few years back when I liked it, Equate was made by Lobob -- stated right on the bottle. Now it just says Walmart on the bottle so I could guess who makes it, since there aren't that many manufacturers of contact lens solution, but wouldn't know for sure).

new contact solution for hard lenses
Posted 10/14/2012
I, too, agree the new solution is unusable for my situation. I noticed on first use, my vision became blurry. I have been using the 4 oz solution for many years after trying many others which were always too thick. If the former formula is not made available again, I may have to give up my lenses which I have worn since 1965. deb

TOTALLY AGREE With Used to be great from IL

Ditto on the remarks completely. I looked forever to find a solution that was thinner and at a good price. I have been buying Equate for at least 4 years. Why did they have to change it? I can't even see clearly if I use this new one. Darn!

I'm allergic to all contact solutions except the Equate Conditioning solution. It is the only one that doesn't cause hazing on my RGP lenses. If it wasn't for this conditioning solution I couldn't wear my contacts. Thank you Walmart for having this available for sensitive eyes like mine. It's a double bonus that it is so fairly priced as well.

They changed the formula
Posted 09/04/2012
I too loved the old solution which comes in the 4fl oz box. This has been replaced with a very similar box but is only 3.5fl oz and the solution is goopy and causes a buildup on my lens. The old solution was the only one I could use, I hope they go back to it if enough people complain.

Not the same as name brand

I normally use the Bausch and Lomb gas permeable contact lens solution, but I thought I'd give this a try because it's cheaper. Went through a bottle and thought it was okay, but then I couldn't get to a Walmart and so I picked up a bottle of the B&L solution and noticed a huge difference after the first use. My lenses were much more comfortable with the B&L solution. I had noticed that my eyes had seemed drier when using the Equate solution, but I thought it was just my eyes, but now I realize it was the solution. I think many of the Equate brand products are quite good, but I don't care for this one.

Quality Product for a Great Price

I was using a major name brand product for my rigid gas permeable contacts. Quality stuff but quite expensive. Then I ran into this product. I am happy I tried it. It's also a quality solution but I can get this for much less.
The only difference I really noticed is this solution is slightly less viscous than the name brand....much like a couple of the older conditioning solutions I used back in the 1980s. That doesn't bother me at all. My contacts are still comfortable and just as easy to wear. Plus, being a lighter coating, there are fewer blinks to get my vision sharp when I am first inserting them.
Granted, everyone's eyes are different. However, considering the price, it's not much of a risk to try this one. For me, It's great!

Beware they changed the solution
Posted 09/04/2012
They changed the solution but the box is very similar, the best way to tell is look at the amount. The previous solution which is more comfortable is 4fl oz. The new one is 3.5 fl oz. and is goopy, and bothers my eyes. I called and voiced my complaint and I recommend everyone does that so maybe they will change it back. The rep. did say I could order it on line till it runs out if I can't find it in the stores, so I have done that but the expire date will keep me from stockpiling more.

good stuff!

I always used the name brand "original solution" and then it got too hard to find and I bought the "advanced". However, I kept having a problem with my eyes and mucus (I know -- sounds gross). The Walmart brand solution is thinner, but very comfortable (good pH balance). Definitely worth purchasing!
