Review 1 for Canon EF 70-200mm f4L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens With Optical Image Stabilizer

A great lens

What a great lens. I finally decided with the price coming down on the Canon EF 70-200mm f4L that I would purchase one. I reviewed all the electronic sites that I could find and discovered that Walmart was $100 cheaper than any other site that I reviewed. This lens takes a great picture and makes it fantastic. The colors are clear and there is no soft edges (aka blurring when you extend the lens to the 200 mm zoom) This is such great investment. I took a picture of our lab and you can almost count all of the fur on his face.

This is It

This is arguably Canon's best zoom lens. This is widely considered to be their sharpest telephoto zoom, and one of their sharpest lenses period. It is sharp across the whole image from corner to corner even at f/4, and along much of the range is actually sharper than most cameras can see.
It's an L class lens, which means construction is superlative. The controls are smooth. The autofocus is precise and lighting fast, as well as nearly silent.
It's range, 70-200, is extremely good and quite versatile on a full frame camera or a film camera. It's a bit long on the normal crop sensor dSLR like the rebel series or the d40, where it equals 112-320mm. This, however, makes it great for sports shots.
The speed of the lens is the only downside- f/4 is a bit slow for indoor sports photography. For that you want something more like an f/2.8.
But! For the rest of your indoor shots, this lens has Canon's best Image Stabilization yet made. This will remove up to four (4!) stops of camera shake.
That means a normal shot at 1/200th of a second could be shot (and come out nice and sharp) at as little as 1/12th of a second. As always, remember that this is only for camera shake; if your subject is moving it'll still come out blurry.
It is very good at everything you could ask of it, except that maybe your portraits will come out a bit too sharp. In which case you might want to turn your in-camera sharpening down to take the edge off.
In summation:
Pro: Everything. The perfect lens except for:
Cons: f/4. Its slow for indoor sports shots and while Portraits are very sharp, the background is not as out of focus as you might like.
