Samsung 42" Class Plasma HDTV w/ Digital Tuner, PN42A400

I was quite disappointed when after bringing the TV home, navigating two flights of stairs, removing it from the carton to find that the screen had several cracks near the top. This caused the imposition of carrying the TV back up both flights of stairs, and making a trip back to Walmart to return it. Also, the aspect I found that irritated me the greatest, was the fact that I purchashed the TV during a pre-Christmas sale, and therefore I have been unable to purchase another of equal value for the sale price. The closest I found was roughly $100.00 more expensive, and was an inferior brand in comparision with my original purchase of the SamSung 42'' Television.

I have researched many LCD and Plasma TV's. My first instinct was to go with an LCD, so I concentrated my research in the LCD market. I had read that the plasma's big disadvantages is the "burn in" and the reflection. Further research shows that in most plasma models, they resolved the "burn in" issue (you can read about it yourself via Samsung online reviews). The plasma technology has improved and now burn-in is no longer an issue. The reflection issue is not a big deal either. If you have lots of lights on, then you can see the lights reflected on the screen, but we don't turn many lights on and our living area is on the "dark" side...so reflection is not really an issue for us. The picture quality is excellent. It's not the kind of detail picture that you would get with the really high-end plasmas, but given the cost, the picture quality is outstanding (in High Def). The color, definition, detail and overall picture is fantastic. The sound on some channels is not great, but we solved this problem with our surround sound system.

Overall, the quality of this plasma is excellent for the cost. This is our first big screen and we are more than satisfied with its overall performance. You have to remember that you get what you pay for, and you can't beat the price and quality of this TV. In a few years, I suspect we'll invest in a higher-end with a bigger screen, but I think we'll stay with plasma at this point.....and Samsung products are typically the best. In TV's, I've always gone with Samsung. A great buy.

I've had this TV for about a week now and am really pleased with it. Great picture! Great price!

I read the reviews online, but I was disappointed. They say the 720 pixels you can't see with the naked eye, but you can. I really wished I would have bought the lcd with the 1080 pixels. I have a lcd with 1080 (32 inch), and the piture is a better quality. When I read the reviews, I thought I could get better bange for my buck. (the Plasma was cheaper and was said to have a better picture). It is not true. I say to spend a extra $100 and get a lcd with 1080 pixels. It was said with the reviews that the only time you need 1080 pixels is when you buy a screen size 52" or larger. DON'T BELIEVE THEM!! You can see the difference with a 42" screen. I will keep this Plasma, but I will look forward to the day when I get get a lcd with 1080 pixels.

Well as most of you guys I got this tv on black friday along with a Polaroid 42 inch 1080p lcd. Well let me tell you this tv being 720p and all definitely and without a doubt, has a much crispier and a very noticeable better image than the polaroid. Now I haven't yet tested the tv's with a blu-ray player but I prefer watching my HD channels on this tv. The sound is not great, but not that bad either.. it just lacks a little bit of volume. But overall great tv for the price, I doubt you will find a better deal than this.

Picture is wonderful on this TV. Setup was very simple. Even non-HD programs look very good. The sound isn't special, but is sufficient. Great TV for the money.

As usual Samsung image quality is un matched now with walmart consumer oriented pricing

The TV was a gift for my parents and they seem to like it. We had free store to store shipping which was convenient. However, the box was significantly damaged that the TV came in. We were suprised that the TV was not damaged.

Well i've had this tv for a few weeks now and I honestly cant complain. The picture quality is amazing, definitely competition for 1080p tvs. The sound is amazing and there are so many features this set offers. I've yet to dip into them all.
