Bought the set (Bowl, brush, soap) when I first started traditional (Wet) shaving. I had trouble working up a lather at first but soon got the hang of it. Smells nice. This is a great soap and a great value and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase refills.

The soap melts in my shaving mug over the hot water. So it does not last as long as the Williams cup soap that Walmart carried in the past. I now have to buy my Wiliams cup soap on line.

This shave soap is really good and at great price! I haven't used a DE razor for over 30 years and never used brush and soap. I bought two razors from the flea market and a Old Spice Mug and a nice Boar brush for 15.00, I decided to try the brush and bought soap at wally. I'm glad I did, checked others that carry this soap locally and wally has all of them beat. I can't compare against other brands but I'm sure I will but very satisfied with Van Der Hagen, thanks Wally.

This soap has an excellent texture and lather when properly prepared. The scent is pleasant and lasts for a reasonable amount of time; and yet, it is in no way overpowering. I particularly enjoy the soft, freshened skin I have after shaving. I suffer easily from razor burn; but with this soap, I have had little to no irritation--even with sub-par razors. Great product at a great price!

When Colgate shaving cream(2006) left the shelves I began suffering with razor burn. trying different foams and gels on the shelves NOTHING worked 'till I found the Ven Der Hagen shave soap kit(2009). I can say that shave soap is the cure for red necks caused by razor burn. Please keep selling the shave soap(s).

Hands down the best shaving soap that I've ever used.
Just great, haven't nicked myself once since I began using this product. Rich lather, blade glides easily and shaves close, leaves skin smooth & moisturized. I've been complaining for some time about the poor quality of blades available today and I never thought that the soap made a great deal of difference, boy was I wrong!

I've used a variety of shave soaps from off-the-shelf to expensive ones available only on the Internet. This is by far the best shave soap I have ever used. It makes a rich, thick lather in an instant. It allows the razor to glide across my skin and leaves my skin soft and moisturized. I rate this 5 stars on every aspect except perhaps teh fragrance. The fragrance is weak and dissapears immediately but maybe that is a good thing.

I grabbed a box of Van Der Hagen on a lark, because I knew it would fit in my Aprocrapathy mug. I have tried some expensive cream and soaps. I was suprised that this inexpensive soap works better than the $20 things out there. And, as a benifit, not having to work so hard to get a great lather is easier on your brush! I am now hooked to the brand! Just wish the store carried the "up-grade" of the same brand. I would like to try that too!
