We wish it was more sturdy. The cats love it too much. They want to play on it and claw it. This product gets unstable quickly and eventually falls apart. The carpet also falls off with scratching.

I purchased this for a new cat that i had just adopted. He had spent almost all of his 4 years of life in a cage at a local petsmart. He is not used to people so training him is going to take a while and he really needed a place to scratch and get up and away from my other elderly cat and dog.
You get what you pay for. It is not the best quality carpeting (it is more like cheap carpet self stick tiles) and the platforms are not meant for a med size to large cat. they are just too short and narrow. It is good for kittens and that is about it.

Just bought this cat tree to replace a similar one that was also purchased at WalMart. The two trees are the same style and same price. Replacement tree is inferior. Carpet is thin and already breaking through. Platforms are small. The cats loved to sleep on them but on the new tree they are too small for the cats to sleep on. My cats are petite. . .much smaller than average cats and they don't fit on the platforms. Just two additional inches would make all the difference. Thicker carpet too would be nice. They love climbing it and trying to sleep on it but it isn't going to last long. I imagine I'll be looking to replace in within six months. You also must have the strength of Hercules to suppress the spring enough to install the tree. It also MUST be placed against a beam or it will punch through your ceiling.

At 4pm we purchased this and put it together. At 5:30 our very light, and very timid cat got on the lowest raised tier. Within 2 minutes the spring broke flying to the bottom . The whole tree shock and made the most god awful noise. My poor dear is now hiding under the bed refusing to come out.

I got two of the cat craft cat trees about 6 years ago and took out the top platforms to put in a long board in their place. My cats love it because they can see out of my high window that are about 5 ft off the floor The cats love to lay on the platform and look out the windows. I may have modified it but it works well. I plan to buy 2 more to replace the well loved carpet. I feel 6 years of high use is good. I also have 8 cats so it was well used and my cats never have used my furniture to sharpen claws.

I have had this cat tree for several years now and it has gone through several kittens and cats, they absolutely love it! I've had this in almost every room of the house and it has fit perfectly in each with the different heights of the ceilings, thanks to the tension rod at the top. I suggest putting it in front of a window, as they love to climb and sit up there and watch the goings on outside. Cats also have a natural love of being up high, so the fact that it goes to the ceiling is just awesome. I have recommended this to everyone I know that has a cat. Without a doubt the best money I have ever spent on anything for them. Just one thing, it doesn't have any toys on it, so I attached a little feathery bird toy to the top of the second tier...quite entertaining for her...for us as well.

I knew by reading the other reviews what to expect. I also knew by the price, you get what you pay for. I had already seen the item put together at a friends house but her cat had yet to use it. My 10 pound cat uses it and yes the quality isn't great and it is a little unstable but my cat enjoys it, so for the price of it, I don't mind. If you're looking for something to last a long time, spend the extra $ on something else.

This is the third cat tree from Walmart that I have purchased. This one has gone down in quality with the cardboard tubes being so flimsy that eventually, the whole thing collapsed even though I installed it next to a wall in a corner. Since they last a year, I will buy another because my two rough cats love to dive on it and climb and scratch!!

It looked like a nice cat tree but it unfortunately was not the correct color. I had to return it. The photo of the product online showed the cat tree as beige. It was blue. I had to return it because it doesn't match the colors in our living room. I wish you could choose the color.

I bought this on 12-7-12 & it's 1-23-13. I had it about 1 month 2 weeks & it is already falling apart. The carpet is ripped up, can see the cardboard it is glued to. The top level is slanted like it's going to fall apart. My cat LOVE'S to go up the tree & scratch on it BUTTTTT, it is VERY cheaply made & no 1 should have to pay that kind of money for 1 1/2 month's of use. Can't afford to keep buying these.

I knew I was taking a risk on this, since it was so inexpensive. Sometimes, when you purchase things at a low price, you can overlook some flaws. I wasn't expecting a great cat tree for ~$40; however, the flaws in this item are too large to overlook.
Pros:
1 - Short-pile carpet
2 - Takes up very little horizontal space
Cons:
1 - This cat tree is very wobbly and unstable. The piece wobbled so much that my cat got off of it within seconds of getting on. (See #2, below. My cat had access to one platform via another piece of furniture.# We tried repositioning the piece several times to stabilize it, but nothing worked.
2 - The tubes are too long, so the spaces between the platform pieces #22.5 inches, each# are too great for most cats to navigate. Even if I managed to stabilize the cat tree, it would still be useless to my cat #and probably yours, too) because she couldn't reach the various levels.
I wanted to like this item because it is very compact. However, we couldn't find any way to make this cat tree work for us.

What can I say? I bought this in 2005 and it is still going strong! I spent $25 for it at the time but if I spent $39 I would be impressed too. Four adult cats use it and love it!

I love it. I have a rescue cat that I have been nursing back to health. She loves to sit on it so she can get away from the dogs. Its cheaply made and not incredibly apealing. Mine is a dark blue. It will probably last a little less than a year, but at the price it is I can just go buy another one. If you can afford to buy a more expensive one its probably a better Idea, but if you're on a small budget like me this is a great deal. I will probably get a couple more eventualy. Remember you get what you pay for. dont buy this and expect it to last for years and years it wont. If you want something that will last for about a year then this is great. Its super easy to put together! I had it up in 10 min. Great product for the price.

I bought one of these about 2008. Great price and the tree was great. Lasted about a year or more. My cat used it everyday. He would run up and down the tree and scratch on it a lot. He was about 10lbs at the time. This thing took a beating. Eventually the covering starting hanging which I covered with sisal rope. I trimmed the strings and he kept on playing. I finally had to throw it out.
My friend had one that took a beating and lasted a while and she eventually had to throw it away. She received one in 2010 for xmas which only lasted a week or two. The covering came off immediately on one post and another broke. She just threw it in the trash.
I would love to have another one but I'm afraid to buy one at this point. I can always return it but, from the reviews I don't think I'll bother with buying one.

The worst cat tree EVER!

I have bought cat trees from Walmart for years. The trees lasted over a year and I was very happy with that length of time considering I had several cats. BUT this last tree was a total disappointment! The cardboard was thinner and the carpet was basically a cloth instead of carpeting…It just took one cat jumping onto the tree and the tree bent in the middle. We tried anchoring it to the wall but within 5 days the “carpet” was pulling away from the tree as well as ripping. The tree was sitting at an angle no matter how much we tried to support it. I returned it to Walmart for a refund. With that money my husband and I bought 2x4’s and a carpet runner. Considering we had anchored the Walmart tree to the wall we figured we could build our own tree and anchor it to the wall. We have 4 shelves and 4 posts and very happy cats. We didn't expect alot buying a 40$ tree but certainly did expect the same quality that we've had for years.
