The Aquaculture Home Starter Kit includes all that you need to get started with your exciting hobby. It comes with a size 10 sturdy glass aquarium. This aquarium starter kit is ideal for goldfish and other coldwater fish. The Aquaculture aquarium hood has an incandescent lamp that brightens up the interiors of the tank and shows off the vibrant fish colors. Its hood features a convenient front access door to let you easily feed your pets. The contoured cut-outs at the top make it a breeze to insert the aqua-tech 5-15 power filter and optional heater. The home aquarium starter kit 10 comes with tetra fish food samples for initial fish feeding.

I gave my 9-yr old niece this aquarium for Christmas and she loves it. It was very easy to assemble and looks to require minimal care. It comes with starter packs of food flakes, fish treats, water care and one ph strip. You will need to buy more of these eventually but they are cheap. You will also need to get gravel and any decorations you may want. I would highly recommend this as a starter aquarium for children or adults. I checked other places online and this is by far the best deal I could find.

A few flaws, but still decent

Please keep in mind, I bought this tank a little less than one year ago.
PROS:
-This was the cheapest 10 gallon set I could find.
-It is made of GLASS, not acrylic, which I strongly prefer.
-It comes with a starter pack of food and tetra safe start (I think...) which is nice.
-The filter it comes with it works well and is quiet.

CONS:
-The light fixture on this is horrible. It may work better if you plan to house frogs or something where the water level will be quite low, but as a fish aquarium, the light fixture is just bad. It corroded EXTREMELY quickly, because of the water and heat and one of the lights stopped working for that reason within one month of us having this tank (with MINIMAL light use).
That being said, the kit is so cheap that I wasn't really bothered with having to just come up with an alternate lighting source. I ended up taking the light fixture out of the hood entirely (very simple to do) and instead have a small desk lamp next to my tank that lights it up perfectly.

If I could I would buy ONLY the glass tank but no where near me sells them and this tank still has served me well enough to justify a second purchase. I'm hoping the leak was some error on our part (we recently moved the tank) or just some sealing issue that will hopefully not happen on the next one.

I know there are a few bad-ish reviews on here, and I've only had my tank for two days, but as far as I can tell, I have no complaints. The water is clear and the filter is suuuper quiet. Like, impossible to hear. I've had to get up and check if it was still on a few times. The lights don't touch the water, and I have it completely filled. My tank had no cracks or anything, like some people say they had. My fish like the current of the filter and the light isn't making the water hot or anything. Very nice glass tank at a wonderful price. I definitely would not mind buying a few more of these in the future. If you're reading this and are considering this tank, I highly suggest you buy one!

I read several reviews of this tank that made me consider getting it or not. I decided to go ahead purchase it and if it did not exceed my expectations go ahead and return it. I can say that I am BEYOND thrilled with this tanks performance! I bought this tank for my two Black Moor goldfish, and they LOVE it. I would only suggest buying real plants as opposed to the pretty plastic ones, the live plants tend to keep the tank cleaner, as well as maybe one or two ghost shrimp. I would suggest buying this tank and see how it works for yourself before dishing out a hundred dollars at most pet stores for a starter tank. I will admit if the water is not filled almost to the rim of the tank it is a little noisy, but not a bad noise at all...it's actually relaxing. It sounds like a table top fountain, as for the lighting it's fine for what it's supposed to do. I have my tank on the bar in my kitchen so it can be seen from both the living room and the kitchen so I personally never have any use for the light to be on. I hope my review was helpful, if you have questions feel free to ask.

It is a good tank and I got it for a good price, but it wasn't sealed correctly on one of the top corners and it leaked. It will still work okay if I don't fill it up to that point. I'd recommend you check the tank well before putting water in it.

my old tank lid was better

I don't like the cheaper way this lid is made. The bulbs have only a partial block from the water. I have gone through Two sets of bulbs in the last few months! The bulbs actually come apart and I have to remove the rest with pliers! My old lid had a removable light fixture that sat on a glass plate in the lid. I had my old lid for almost ten years and only two florescent bulbs before it quit!
The plastic is thinner and lighter so I'm nervous that it might break when cleaned or become brittle over time. I'm replacing with a better quality lid so I won't be using this one long enough to find out.
Finally the front door to feed the fish is rediculous to open. It's like trying to open a hidden door!

i brought this tank two weeks ago and i love it and it work fin and its just that the filter stop working like two days ago so walmart is replacing it which is fin but am glad i did not have no fish yet cause am not sure that they wound had die or not but other than that the tank and everything else is ok and looks great.

Ive searched petsmart, pepco and many more local stores looking for a fish tank. them my dad said son lets go to walamart and look. And im telling you when i saw this tank it was the BEST i have seen for an price that you an afford. it is perfect buy it. i had it for about 5 weeks now and it is running great. i had no problem at all.

Hey new fish tank owners!!! I know when your new and confused about witch tank you should get it can be a headache. Trust Me I Know! But let me tell you I read every review on this page before I bought my first fish tank there was bad ones and good ones so I thought now what? I decided to just go get me one and try it for myself. you dont know until you try so I bought my 10 gallon kit brung it home. I done a leak check for 24 hours nothing happened - then I filled it with water and let my pump run for a week everythign went great - then after buying a heater I went and bought my first 2 fish they are happy and healthy - I'm going through the cycling process I'm almost 3 weeks in and no deaths at all I still have the same fish that I started with this tank is the best I hope for everyone that they have as good as luck with it as I have GOOD LUCK:)
