Before I bought this, my hair was dyed black and had a blond shadow box that had grown out quite a bit and once upon a time, been dyed purple which, overtime, turned green. So the top half of my hair was black and then you could see long pieces of green sticking out from beneath it.
I used about 3 bottles of this stuff over the period of a few months to get the color I wanted. The first time I used it, it turned my black hair a dark brown color with a reddish tint and the green was almost completely blond. I was happy with just the lack of green in my hair. But I figured I could go a few shades lighter and maybe get even more of the green out.
By the third time I had used it I was so happy. My hair actually changes color depending on if I blow dry it or not. If I blow dry it, it's a light brown golden color, if I don't it's a beautiful light brown with a slight reddish tint and blond highlights. I still have the shadow box, and it's barely green now.

when i first started using this product, i followed the instructions and my hair got lighter ( i have dark brown hair ). then i started spraying it on my dry hair and used my straightener on my hair. it was instant! however this obviously damages your hair so YOU HAVE TO CONDITION TREATMENT YOUR HAIR!!!! i use regular olive oil and it always works.
i even dyed my hair back to brown for a while and then redid the process. if you use it on dyed dark hair you might get a reddish tone in your hair, but it allows you to get your hair to a better place if you wanna get salon highlights that won't totally wreck your hair.

Let me explain why I wouldn't recommend this to a friend. Although it lightened my medium brown hair to this very light blonde over the course of two years and I LOVED the results it is damaging. I had to use it about five times a week or my roots would grow in, if I didn't blowdry my hair right after a shower it looks orange and frizzy. My ends and all of my hair was rough and dry and damaged. If you only use it for highlights say once a month your safe otherwise skip the product.

gave me a very pretty caramel color! tried both hair dryer and sun, sun wins! When used with hair dryer hair gets a bit coarse and dry, but i tried it on my vacation on the beach and it worked like magic!!! Works a lot faster, hair stays soft and it gave me those natural looking perfect sun kissed highlights! Read so many nasty reviews online, I guess some people just didn't use it right or were expecting some salon quality results...=)
Be careful though, don't overspray! Once it's on, it'll work and there's no going back. I started little by little b/c was afraid of "bleached" strands but when you see how it works on your hair, you'll figure out the right dosage.
P.s.i'm not blond naturally, my hair is light brown/auburn, the SUN IN gave me blondish caramel sorta honey color=)

I have jet black hair with natural dark brown highlights here and there. After using Sun-In, my hair turn a medium brown which I absolutely love. I pretty much used an entire bottle (used it about 8 different times to achieve the color I wanted) since my hair is pretty long.
For those who are planning on buying this:
- It doesn't work on dyed/bleached hair. Your hair must be untreated.
- Use a leave in conditioner after you've used Sun-In. My hair was a bit dry after I used it.
- I recommend using it at most twice a week since it can dry out your hair.

What other product that lightens your hair gives you all the control over what color you end up with? I've been using this (and the off brand versions which work just as well).. for over 25 yrs... and I will never again try ANYthing else. Plus this is way less damaging than the alternatives. DO NOT listen to your friends who say its "so bad for your hair"... that's pure folklore. Even hair professionals have been caught assuming my hair is its natural color... What more can I say?
Oh one more thing... I claim on the ratings that I use it everyday.. which I do.. that is until I get the desired results.. then I stop using it except to occasionally spray some on my roots. SO I actually use it DAILY a couple times of year. Other than that, just touch ups maybe once a month.. not more than maybe 3 days in a row for that.

Heavensent in a bottle I love this it's less damaging then bleach for sure and dosent bring out bright red tones as bleaching dose my hairs now medium blonde amazing it was dark dark blonde I would recommend this I love it I think the lemon juice has somthin to do with it compared to sun in originial and plus it's cheaper then hair bleach

Ok so I have used this product a few times in the past years, and I have to say that this gave me the most gorgeous hair color ever, it would turn my medium brown hair a beautiful gold and light brown color and I loved it.I would always spray my hair and sit in the sun for about a half hour and it would be lighter within days. So I found my bottle from maybe 2 years ago in my bathroom and I used it twice with a blow dryer, and I think its gotten a little lighter, but I have to say now that Im older Im not really sure about using this. Im sure this is really damaging to your hair, plus it has hydrogen peroxide in it. I have never colored my hair with anything but sun-in, and Im disappointed because before I started using it, I would get natural high lights in the summer, but i began using sun in to enhance them and bring them in faster, and I dont think i ever got my natural hair color back. Now my hair is just dark brown all the time, and it really makes me mad, I always swore i would never color my hair to avoid losing my natural color, i didnt realize when i was younger that sun in was basically doing the same thing. anyways, idk for sure if it was sun in, or maybe my hair color just changed as i got older, but im pretty sure it was sun in. if you dont care about the damage to your hair, then use this, it really works wonders

After 25 yrs, STILL the only 1 that gets it right!

I've been using this since I was 13 yrs old... its the ONLY thing I use to color my hair ( or lighten it as the case may be here) that isn't obviously unnatural. As a matter of fact 99% of people, male AND female, think light auburn is actually my natural hair color! My natural color is dark brown!! And of course at age 38 I'm beginning to really start going grey.. which is only hidden temporarily by hair dyes... with sun-in, the streaks running from my temples just look like more sun bleached streaks! When I stop using this and let my natural color grow back in, it literally ages me 10 yrs! And I've ALWAYS been extremely young looking... but starting at about 35, unless my hair is lightened, I finally started getting carded. I will probably keep using this until my dying day. NOTHING is easier to use, nor easier to fix the whole issue of "roots" showing! Just spray it on once a week once you get your desired shade and it'll keep it looking natural and root-free! AND its not nearly as hard on your hair as bleaching kits! I've tried those ONCE... WHAT a disaster!

BEST hair lightener i've ever tried! after one use people already noticed.
after 2 days i went from medium brown hair back to light brown.
first day i didn't notice any damage
day 2 the ends a little dry, but not nearly as dry as if i were to use bleach (trust me!)

Okay when i first used this there was no change. After the first day i unscrewed the top and poored it on my hair. After i went to the pool and got a tan. After i took a shower my hair went from light brown to a dark dirty blond! This produck really works and doesent smell bad.

ok, so i have always wanted light blonde hair and with sun in it did get much lighter. the first few times i used it, i couldtell a difference.... i didnt see as much a difference as i wanted though. i wouldkeep spraying my hair with it and then blowdrying it and it wouldnt get as light as i wanted it. so finally i just unscrewed the top ans pored some in my hands ans ran my fingers through my hair.then blowdried. it was a bigger visible difference. now i am happy with my hair. remember: you will have to keep buying the product or your roots will grow out!
