Great reel, 03/03/2009

I purchased 4 of these reels in the spring of '07. In fact I'm thinking about purchasing a few more this spring. I use these reels when I'm fishing for bass, I have even used them for catfishing. Once you get the brakes adjusted you can cast light weight Texas rigged worms and small squared billed crankbaits into a light to medium wind without the fear of the dreaded backlash. These is the best quality reel that I have found in this price range at Walmart. I highly recommend this reel if your looking for a great baitcaster.

Pile of Junk!, 02/18/2009

I used this reel for two months and the plastic "Titanium" line guide broke. Instead of reeling in the line back and forth across the spool, it stays on one side. Splurge $15 more on the Abu Garcia Black Max and you'll be happy like me!

Review 4 for Shakespeare Sigma Low Profile Baitcast Reel

good for the job, 02/02/2009

The 1st reveiw that I read about this reel is not an fair reveiw. It is a Bait Caster Reel. You must 1st set your magnetic dail and then tighten it from there to your own liking. Some say until the line barely falls from the tip of the rod. I came to SC to visit family and was invited to go on a fishing trip. It took some practice but once I got the hang of it; I gave away all my open face reels and got bait casters. I know live here in SC. I fish every chance I get. This is a good cheap reel and will definately pull in a 6lb. Bass with ease. It works great on big cat fish too. I bass fish here year round and I see guys with $200.00 and $300.00 dollar reels but if I'm fliing down the river in my bass boat and a rod & reel fly's off my boat. Oh well it's lost and I move on; but those guys cry like a baby. So give it another try it may seem endless @ 1st but you'll get the hang of it. Remember Practice makes perfect. Help a stranger on the water he or she may turn out to be your best friend til the End. Good Fishin' and GOD Bless.

Review 5 for Shakespeare Sigma Low Profile Baitcast Reel

Not worth it, 01/16/2009

My son purchased this with the gift card he got for Christmas.
When he got it all set up, every time he tried to cast with it, it would knot up, and tangle the line horribly. He returned it to the store, and got a different reel.
