The HDMI connection upscales your DVD collection to 1080p on compatible HDTVs. It can also play your CDs, plus MP3 and JPEG files that have been burned onto CD-Rs. Dolby Digital surround sound decoding is built in, along with a DTS output. BRAVIA Sync lets you power on and synch the inputs of compatible Sony A/V devices connected via HDMI. Other highlights include video outputs for composite, S-video, component video and HDMI, as well as coaxial and optical digital audio outputs. Includes multi-brand wireless remote control.

i bought this for my husband for christmas and he was thrilled. the picture is great (even i can tell the difference) and the value is incredible. because it's a sony, we're thinking/hoping that this dvd player will last a while. just a note: no hdmi cord is included. my husband got one on-line (not wal-mart) for $8 including shipping so no biggie.

The Sony DVD was so easy to hookup the picture is great I connected it to my 65" tv through my surround sound. I used the gold HDMI cable to connect to the satellite The price was right I love it I don't think a blue ray could give a better picture.

I recieved this product a few weeks back. To my amazement the DVD Player is pretty thin which is awesome and is very sturdy. The picture that this thing puts out is amazing for my 32 Vizio 720 HDTV. It looks very close to the Blu Ray disks in my opinion. The remote has many options which isn't normal for a Player in this price range which is awesome. I was going to put my 32 inch HDTV on top of this and it was very sturdy, but just didn't look right. Excellent product and you just can't beat the awesome price Wal-Mart offers for it. It's worth double it's price.

I've had many different brands of DVD players which include Toshiba, Panasonic, Zenith, Samusng ... thay all had problems or issues playing certain types of discs. This Sony will play them all, even warped discs. Playback quality is excellent. Everything you need for control is on the remote, which is something other brands have a problem with. Stay away from the cheaper model since it doesn't have an S connector. This is not only the best playback deck for the money, but possible the best DVD player of all. Can't go wrong with this deck.

I was looking for a new DVD player to go with my 42" LCD HD. I discovered the up-conversion feature - perfect for what I needed.
I saw other marginal brand names out there for similar prices. Despite the gripes I saw posted on all players, it's the picture that matters, so I went with Sony. Does saving $10 really matter that much?
Totally satisfied with this unit. It does the job and has some great features, all on the remote, too. Get it!

Using this DVP-NS700H player with a Vizio 32" TV is hard to beat. The HD DVD's look so life-like it's wonderful. The graphic reads 1080p when the DVD starts, so I guess the player up-converts that far. For 60 bucks that is an awesome value!

I puchaced this product today only because it was the only one they had in stock. I just wanted something cheaper to try out my new hd tv. I must say I am very impressed with the performance of this player. Has all the functions of any other dvd player and the 1080p looks great. It plays all of my copied movies with no problem. I think I'll keep this puppy.

They don't tell you that to utilize the HD upconversion you need to purchase a $50 cable. I bought it as a gift and recipient says that picture is excellent without the cable, so gift was a success.

The Sony DVP-NS700H is just what we wanted; i.e., basic DVD player with great video & audio quality. Simple to set up, with basic wiring connectors & remote batteries included. We are feeding the DVD output through a basic 31" digital TV (no need for HD upgrade @ this time) and an amplifyer / audio speakers setup.
