I bought this item to go on a long car trip with the kids. It has an excellent picture, good sound and seems very durable. We like the screen swivel feature so that we can place the player in our center console and turn the screen so that it is closer to the kids. They can still work the machine with the nice size remote control. We chose this product over the ones carried in our local store because it is a newer model and received excellent reviews from consumer reports websites we looked at. It is a bit more pricey than comparable models but for reliability it is worth it.

Took this player in the car from CT to FL. The battery life is good and the picture quality is great. Works well as a DVD player for a TV set with really nice picture quality. For a trip in the car I would highly recommend a set of headphones as the built in speakers can be quite loud.

This is a good player. Had read a lot of reviews on a lot of players and had come to the conclusion that you must spend a reasonable amount of cash and buy a reliable, well-known name to get a good player. Cheap players skip, quit running, and have a number of problems. I also wanted one with a long battery life. This Sony has not disappointed me.

I just love this DVD player. We purchased it for our 13 month old. We use it in the car all the time when we go on long road trips. The 6 hour battery is great and the player is excellent. It plays all our videos, including our home movies and the sound and picture are excellent. I just wish I could find a case that would slip over the headrest so i could slip the DVD player into it. The bag we got to attach to the headrest is kind of bulky and clumsy.

I previously purchased a portable DVD player for my travels. Unfortunately the battery capacity was not adequate for long flights. This unit lasts for the duration of all my flights. The battery life is not exactly as advertised but it perfect for flying across country with a connection.
The picture quality is excellent! The sound is very good and loud enough in a noisy environment.
I tried using the DC battery charger and it took a very long time.

After my last airline flight, I vowed I'd never board another plane without a portable DVD to distract me from the discomfort. I did a lot of research online and decided on the Sony DVP-FX820. I couldn't find one in stores except in black. I ordered the red one online. I haven't flown again yet, but so far I love the Sony. The picture is stunningly sharp and clear. Although the built-in speakers sound kind of tinny, cheap headphones produce wonderful sound quality. Even with my original Sony Cassette Walkman headphones (1970s???), the sound is pretty good. I love that the screen can swivel different directions. The only annoyance I've experienced is finding a carrying case that isn't so big that it defeats the purpose of portability. I'd recommend a neoprene sleeve if it's getting packed in luggage or a camera bag.

I debated on other brands that were cheaper but finally settled on the Sony. I had seen other brands at Walmart but never the Sony model, so I was pleasantly surprised at the picture and sound quality after it arrived. It has a very solid feel not a cheap plastic feel like some of the others. Overall very satisfied, just a bit pricey.

Got the red(nice looking) one for my 7 y/o daughter....love the way the monitor rotates...very well made...very clear picture(better than any I've seen)...sound is plenty loud. No problems at all with skipping with any movements in car ,walking around,and even shaking. The rave reviews, along with the Sony name persuaded me to purchase this product and I'm glad I did. I purchased this as a Christimas gift for my 13 year old daughter. The sound and picture quality are wonderful. She can also plug her camera in and display photos and videos so that was an added bonus. We looked at cheaper models but for the price on this unit and the Sony name it was worth paying a little more. Last but not least the red color is pretty sharp looking :)

I bought this dvd player for my daughter for Christmas, but when I received the dvd player I took it out of the box and checked it out. Well I liked it so much and because of the size I felt that it would be very helpful to me in the kitchen for use of the cooking dvds I have recently purchased. I set the dvd player on the counter and can swivel the screen to where I can see it. I can read my recipies very easily, the size of the sceen is perfect. And of course I love the color "RED"!!
