I have been carrying a 2-AA battery 1-watt LED flashlight in my work briefcase for years. When I work late, I take the flashlight out and have it in my hand when I leave the office. The lights outside go off periodically and the parking garage across the street has its lights turned off after 8:00 p.m., so a flashlight is handy to have (now with energy cost reductions, even the lights in the stairwells are turned off). When the Mag-Lite 2-AA battery 3-watt LED flashlight was sold in the Wal-Mart store, I bought one, but it was not as bright as my old 1-watt LED flashlight, so I continued to carry my old 1-watt LED flashlight. When I read the reviews of the Coleman flashlight, I decided to try one, but it was no longer sold in the local Wal-Mart stores and "site to store" was not available, so I had to order it online and pay for shipping. However, it was worth it! It is noticeably brighter than my old 1-watt LED flashlight! It also has a positive clicker, so that pressing the button part way will flash the light on without having to press the button all the way in to click it on. My old flashlight has a negative clicker -- the button had to be pressed all the way down to the click and then the flashlight came on as the button was released. The Coleman is easier to use to quickly flash temporarily at things to see, without turning the flashlight on constantly. This flashlight seems to be sturdy, very well-constructed, and nicely finished -- the only thing unexpected was that I thought from the picture of it online that the flashlight would be black or dark gray, but the one I received is of a metallic bluish-green-gray color, which is OK, but not what I had expected.

I ordered this flashlight for bicycling after sun down. It was one of the less expensive flashlights recommended for night biking. Had trouble turning it off the first time I used it, but no trouble since then. It gives off kind of a blue light and has a nice bright spot in the center. For comparison, my Dad's Mag-lite has a dark spot in the center (poor design).
The only thing I didn't like about the Coleman was that it had batteries included. I prefer to use only rechargeable batteries.

I already had one of these and bought two more this time. What I like about this flashlight is that it is considerably brighter than the incandescent-bulb type, the LED bulb draws comparatively little current, and that it works well with rechargeable NiMH AA batteries. My only disappointment was that the LED in one of the flashlights has a bluish-white light instead of the warm-white light that I prefer, and which was utilized in the other two flashlights.

Beats any I've seen in this price range. By far the brightest 100 plus lumens around. And 2 AA batteries to boot. Excellent choice.

As a police officer, this is a great flashlight for the money. Brighter than most Maglite and SureFire lights for 1/3-1/4 the cost. Small and light enough to carry in your pocket (or wife's purse) all day. It's too small to use as a defense tool in an emergency. Batteries are cheap as it uses two AA's and not the expensive CR123. The light is bright with good distance and permanent 50% focused beam/50% flood. Only thing I would change is to add a pocket clip. Great emergency/backup light. Tailcap momentary switch is a plus. I bought two.

This a very nice flashlight. I use mine for walking the dogs. Super bright light and has a good throw. One of the things I like best is it has a forward push button switch so this means momentary activation is possible. It feels very solid and easy to carry.

Very bright, well made, 25 bucks is fair price and AA batteries easy to find and cheap. The light is heavy due to all metal construction, So not really easy to carry in pocket all day.

I am a Fire Chief and was looking for a good personal flashlight for our firefighters to be carried as part of their personal protective gear. To be of any use in the fire service, the light must be constructed of durable metal material that can take abuse and also be watertight and also be capable of putting out a great deal of light. This flashlight meets all those requirements very well. At 115 lumens it matches or betters the light output of many Surefire or Streamlight flashlights that sell from $60 to $150. At only $25, this small flashlight is a fantastic bargain and far exceeds the expectations we had for a small personal flashlight.

I am a bit of a flashlight collector. I saw this Coleman Max flashlight and was intrigued by it's small size, Aluminum construction, 115 lumens, Cree LED lightbulb, use of common AA alkaline batteries, and the $25 price tag. I had been looking online for a small bright flashlight, but they tend to use cr123 Lithium Battries (expensive), and were in the $60 to $75 price range. I've had the Coleman Max at home for a couple of weeks now and I am very impressed. I always been a Maglight lover, and I do like and own some of the LED Maglights. But this Coleman Max has the Mini-Mag Flashlight beat hands down. It's as bright as a 4 D cell Maglight, in a Mini-Mag package. It costs more than a Mini-Mag but less than an LED Maglight 4 D Cell. It uses the more affordable AA alkaline batteries. I would highly recommend this flash light to anyone who wants a lot of bright light in a small package, at a reasonable cost. A great value!

I bought this flashlight at Walmart and was very skeptical at first but I found that the light is very bright for its size, about the same as a 4d Mag light only a whole lot smaller and lighter and the battery lasts longer. This is the best flashlight I've used and for only $26 it was a great value.

I bought this flashlight for a week long hiking trip. It uses two "AA" batteries which is helpful because so do my GPS and digital camera. It has withstood rain, shock(dropping onto rocks) and heat(left in the car during the summer). The tag says batteries only last 5 hours, but that is with optimum brightness. I use mine at least 4 times a week for odd jobs and its STILL using the original batteries(Duracell) from four months ago. The Lumens(light rating) output and quality is on par with those priced at $80 at sporting good stores.

extremely bright, nice spot, very nice throw, very rugged and cheap batteries (especially compared to CR123's). I have not measured the actual light output to verify the "115 lumens" figure. The "5 hour" battery life quote may be the life for maximum light output, but it is still EXTREMELY bright (very little dimming) for much longer than 5 hours. My only criticism is the tailcap switch (both momentary and click-on/click-off) is not recessed; something else in your pocket can turn it on. Can't beat it for the money, I just ordered three more.

This light is a very good deal, specially with the added convenience of getting it at Walmart. - This light is actually just as bright as my Mag-Lite 4D flashlight. No joke, I checked Mag-Lite's website, and it puts out 115 lumens, the same as this Coleman, but the Coleman is only 1/3 the size of the Mag-Lite. - Also, the build quality on these Coleman lights are excellent. The frame is metal. The batteries do not rattle around inside the housing. The threads have a good feel to them, plus there's on o-ring to keep moisture out. - All in all, a great light. I'm gong to try to mount it on my bike, and do some off road riding. I think 2 of these lights would provide plenty of light for moderate trail riding.
