First Alert First Alert Battery-Powered Carbon Monoxide Detector, CO400
The First Alert Battery-Powered Carbon Monoxide Detector, CO400 is an easy to use carbon monoxide detector that comes with one carbon monoxide alarm, a user's manual, and two AA batteries. This carbon monoxide detector features a test/silence button that silences the alarm and allows you to test its functionality. The First Alert alarm monitors and re-alarms if carbon monoxide levels persist sounding a loud 85-decibel horn. No installation is required for this carbon monoxide detector, and the attractive design allows the unit to be placed anywhere you need it. The First Alert Battery-Powered Carbon Monoxide Detector, CO400 includes an optional wall mount with no outlet required, and is powered by two AA replaceable alkaline batteries giving you peace of mind even during power outages.

I only rated this a 4, as I don't know how it will perform down the road.
It appears to be a quality device. I really like the fact that it is AA battery powered.
The price was also very good.
The service, delivery, and attitude by WalMart was excellent.

I had an older First Alert CO detector, and the alarm was beeping. I changed the battery and this did not solve the problem. I figured the older unit had aged out and needed to be replaced, but I turned off my heating system and opened windows and ventilated the house, I also heated with my wood fireplace in 21 degree weather for 2 days, and immediately bought this CO400 unit. When this alarm went off again after turning on the heating system, I called my heating contractor. The entire furnace had to be replaced as the heat exchanger was full of holes (it looked like a swiss cheese) and was allowing significant CO exhaust fumes into my hot air vents. I could have been killed. I am very happy I put in this new unit immediately.

only one thing good about product is it came with the batteries. otherwise we read instructions, installed the batteries and the plastic front lid would not close properly. we tried, and tried but no results. would not recommend. returned to the store.

Very pleased with this product and happoy it takes AA batteries, them square 9 volt ones are annoying. The installation was very easy and it came with plastic screw anchors with correct drill bit size info. Also it had a paper stencil to use as a guide for hole spacing.
Installed easily, straight and perfectly the first try. Easy peasey lemon squeezy.

I'm glad I purchased this carbon monoxide detector. It was very easy to install and already came with 2AA batteries. It was also the most inexpensive I could find - a good value. The manual is easily understood, too.

This does exactly what it is designed to do. I liked the fact that you don't have to mount it on the wall. I just set ours inside one of our kitchen cabinets - nobody even has to see it!

I bought this for my college grandson living off campus in an older triplex with gas heating. I wanted him to be safe. This detector is small, compact & should fit most anywhere. Of course you really don't know how this product will work until you have a problem. I felt if ever needed, I could trust First Alert as a safe option.
It was purchased online using store pick-up same day. Excellent service. Wal Mart is making this feature work for it's customers.

since the law of July 1 2011 I bought this for that reason it satisfies the law on cabon monoxide detector in the home and I feel safer knowing I won't die because I was'nt warned. It's up there with it's companion smoke detector.

The First Alert Carbon Monoxide detector comes complete with 2 AA batteries and mounting screws.
The instructions have a template so the installer knows where to install the mounting screws.
Just, mount the detector on the wall, install the batteries and one is ready to go.
It meets the UL requirements.
