Sony 7" Digital Frame

This frame far exceeded what I wanted. I plan to purchase 2 more in near future, one for myself for work and one for a gift. Great price, easy to use, perfect in every way. I am a huge fan of Sony products. I highly recommend this item.

I was in the market for digital frames and bought 2 to compare them -- this one b/c of the high user reviews and an HP one b/c of consumer reports reviews.

Both were very easy to use -- just plug the frame into the USB port and drag and drop the pictures onto the frame, or plug your memory card into the digital frame and drag and drop that way.

The biggest 2 differences I found were the "view order" and the internal memory.

The Sony one has 2 choices to view the pictures -- random and "by date". If you are the kind of user who copies pictures onto the frame directly from the memory card, then the date is the date the camera timestamps the picture. However, if you are the kind of user who likes to edit the picture on your computer first and copy if to the frame via the USB port, then the date is the last modified date. This means if you edit your pictures out of date order, the pictures will appear on the frame in the wrong order chronologically. Also, using the USB method takes up more space on the internal memory of the frame, i.e. less pictures.

The HP frame had twice as much internal memory. Also, best I could tell, the order the pictures show is the order you drag and drop them onto the frame.

In summary, if you don't like editing pictures and just want to drag and drop directly from your memory card, then this frame is the way to go. However, if you like to edit pictures, then you might want to look at other alternatives.

I bought this for my dad for christmas. He lives in Florida and misses alot of kids things but hates email pics, and multi photos in frames. So this is the answer! He is not technical at all so I will update pics for him. I uploaded easily from my PC using UCB cable (not included)- will read a mem stick and mem cards.
Picture is very sharp. Just great- Iam going to buy one too!

This frame has a sharp picture and rich color.
I've uploaded about 95 pics to it so far and it displays them nicely with smooth transitions.
I'm using the calendar/clock + picture mode currently, have also used the single view (one picture at a time) and multi-image view.
To upload pictures to the frames 256 Mb of memory requires having a mini USB cable (not included). I was able to use my Sony Digital camcorder cable for uploading pics to the frame. (The DPF-D70 owners manual calls the cable required for uploading a VMC-14UMB2).
If you place the frame lengthwise it shows a wide picture and if you stand it on it's edge it automatically shows a tall picture, keeping correct proportion.
This frame doesn't play music or video, but it does it's designated function of picture frame very well.

This was such a good price for the product. I have been thoroughly pleased. The picture quality is great and the frame is so easy to use. I didn't even have to read the manual. Plus it has the remote which makes it so much easier. Even my 9 year old has downloaded pix to the frame with ease. Thanks Sony!
